Dp and I both tested positive. My isolation end Friday - his the middle of next week. We're in Scotland so dd should continue to go to school. She's tested -ve. How do we get her there? She can get bus home and walk a bit bit there are no buses to school. Can one of us take her in car, masks on, windows down and not getting out of the car??

I would drive her if I felt well enough. It is not as though you are driving a full mini bus of kids it is just your dc.

Just dont get out the car when you get to the school.

Remmy123 · 25/10/2021 14:37

Just drive but don't get out of the car yourself

I wouldn't drive her. It's a rock and a hard place but I would find an alternative, or not send her. It's a legal requirement to isolate. Plus would you be increasing her risk of getting it by sitting in the car?

I assume it's not very far?
I would drive her and not get out the car. You are still isolating that way.
I know people say what if the car breaks down? But realistically how many times has that happened in her school career?

In UK the rules are you only leave house to attend medical appointments, taking children to school isn’t allowed. There has been a few posts on this, the children just had to stay off school if there wasn’t anyone else to take them or they couldn’t get there by thrmselves.

We had this situation, either my mum or a friend took the kids and collected my daughter. My son who is at the juniors walked home on his own (it’s a busy route so lots of people doing the school run, plus only one road to cross). I think if no idea me could have helped we would probably (reluctantly) have kept them at home. As it turned out we only needed help for a few days as both children also ended up getting Covid.
