When do you start isolating for 10 days after LFT or PCR result?

Or when symptoms started day before LFT?

Track and trace will ring you... As part of the process they sort out & will confirm your last day of isolation

Mindymomo · 25/10/2021 11:19

If you have symptoms, then the first day is counted the day after, if no symptoms then you will be told by test and trace, usually 10 days after PCR test.

I’m in Scotland where and it’s the day of symptoms, or positive test result (ltf or PCR - whichever was first) plus the next 9 full days.

Although my test and protect email added a day on for some reason. Wonder if I hit the wrong button when entering date of symptoms.

My son tested positive on LFT last Monday and on a PCR the next day. Test and trace said isolation is up to and including this Thursday when I was expecting it to be Wednesday.

TreeLawney · 25/10/2021 16:25

It’s first day of symptoms + 10 full days ie first day of symptoms (or of test if no symptoms before + test).

Round here an awful lot of parents are suddenly ‘remembering’ their dc had symptoms 5+ days before a positive test to keep their isolation as short as possible.

The first test / LFT / symptoms counts as day 0 not day 1. So it’s really 11 days.

Track and trace were useless when they phoned us and won’t take into account the positive LFT taken the day before PCR test. Positive lateral flow on Thursday 21st would be day zero so isolation should end midnight Sunday. But now on top of missing entire half term and Halloween DD has got to miss an extra day of school. They didn’t even ask about symptoms etc. They said it’s from PCR and that’s that.

The day of symptoms is day 0 and then you isolate for 10 full days after that

@dementedpixie not according to test and protect…

When do you start isolating for 10 days after LFT or PCR result?
dementedpixie · 25/10/2021 17:26

How bizarre. Did we need to be different with isolation dates too in Scotland?

Yellow85 · 25/10/2021 19:51

It’s actually quiet confusing - there’s an automated email that come with your isolation dates based on your PCR test. Mines were the same as my DS even though I had symptoms and positive lft the day before. Then you get the above email saying symptom day + 9 so actually we have a day difference in our isolation period.
