I have 4 Kids, 2 older (1 primary 1 secondary) as a den school. Have not caught any bugs from school and school taking Covid seriously.
I also have another primary child in mainstream and and a 2 week old baby.
Primary child daughter is in year 1, every 2 weeks has daughter another bug, currently on bug number 4! The school are not taking Covid seriously at all, kids are going in with coughs and temps and the school are saying nothing even had a harvest festival in a hall full of parents coughing too. Most parents at the schools very un bothered about
Covid.
My daughter again is very poorly high temp, sore throat.
My 2 week old actually ended up with bronchiolitis and we are just getting over it (caught from my primary daughter) who needed hospital now we have another bug in the house.
I’m now poorly too.
I’m so tempted to pull her from school there must be more to life than catching illness after illness.
In 6 weeks she has caught 4 bugs, and had 3 pcrs (the other parents don’t bother testing).
Clearly Covid will rip through the school, already lots of parents have sent their kids when they have had Covid and not tested the kids as it only says “should”. Most
Parents at the schools have good jobs and won’t take time off so send their kids in poorly. The school only care about their attendance records. I feel so torn. I hate keep seeing her so poorly! She has had no let up. Now half term and we will be doing nothing fun as we are poorly
Again.

Your poor daughter sounds as though she has a run of being very poorly

But absolutely nothing to do with covid

ScottishTinydancer321 · 26/10/2021 16:52

@Oftenithinkaboutit you would think wouldn’t you. Last week was on antibiotics, this week pcr test needed as she still been poorly since antibiotics! Her temp rose the other other night meaning a pcr although had a week course of antibiotics seen doctor who said her throat looks a lot better and checked her ears and chest and said sometimes it happens with these infections. Said we needed to test had booked one already). Waiting results. It’s either again something new brewing or something old going giving one last fight.
She had a pcr a week and a half ago too before the antibiotics. But it’s classes as a new illness as she had a couple of days well i between 🤦🏼‍♀️.

ScottishTinydancer321 · 26/10/2021 16:53

However a lot of people have said with this last cold they have started to feel better than hit again by it. She is still poorly and coughing now. 🤷🏼‍♀️

ScottishTinydancer321 · 26/10/2021 16:55

I’m sure it’s bad luck as I said my post was at 2 am and was a big neurotic as not slept for weeks and you know how difficult it can be to look after poorly kids esp when your poorly your self after having a couple of days in hospital with a new born too. I’m pretty sure there may of been at least one other person in the world that would of felt fed up like me 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oftenithinkaboutit · 26/10/2021 16:57

But she’s off school because of feeling very poorly
So I don’t understand what issue you have with waiting for a pcr test. She wasn’t going to be at school anyway.

You took her to the doctor because her temperature rose slightly in the night?

How could she have been caught covid if been at home suffering off school?

TheUndeadLovelinessOfDemons · 26/10/2021 16:58

If a child has one of the 3 main symptoms and tests negative, they're allowed back in school. This was DS 14 a couple of weeks ago. I doubt children are going into school positive.

Agreed OP

But have started dozens of threads on covid. And that isn’t an exaggeration

Nocutenamesleft · 26/10/2021 16:59

I deregistered my kids some 2 years ago and it was the best thing we ever did!!

No more coughs. No more severe colds! No more flu!

Oh. It’s the best.

Oftenithinkaboutit · 26/10/2021 16:59

you have started

And that isn’t a sign of just being fed up.

ScottishTinydancer321 · 26/10/2021 17:04

@Oftenithinkaboutit I suppose it’s not, my main frustrating is other parents telling me they don’t bother. Or hearing other children coughing and their parents saying it’s a cold so not testing 🤦🏼‍♀️. Although like you say my kid would be off with the big she catches anything anyway it seems.
I’m not kidding you the last week of term the one day she was in I have never heard so many kids coughing 🤦🏼‍♀️.
However the other issue is this winter education wise tge way she is going she isn’t going to learn anything, where if I home schooled her at least she would as wouldn’t be constantly poorly. I have never known so many kids be in school poorly. 3 other kids in her class were on antibiotics. I’m not going to post any more. As the night I wrote this I was very sleep deprived and like I said I should imagine many people with no sleep (after giving birth and a baby with bronchiolitis may feel fed up and little grumpy about it). To me it feels all a bit related. However I get they are 2 different issues your right. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Your child getting sick and being put on antibiotics honestly has absolutely nothing to do with covid. It’s good that you see that.
