I'm due back tomorrow from isolation but struggling with the fatigue and some dizziness. I hate phoning in sick but I don't feel ready to return. When did you go back?

You go back when you feel better. Touch wood I have not had covid (so far) but work in a large department. Our covid absences range from 10 days to 12 weeks. Do not rush you recovery.

I couldn't go straight back I was still far too weak. I had an extra 5 days and now I'm off for half term (work in a school). Go back only when you feel ready.

Willow200 · 24/10/2021 20:49

That's how I feel @fourandahalfkids really weak. Hope you're well now.

I had a positive PCR on Sunday too. I also hate phoning in and never usually have to but Covid is a valid reason to be off! Are you still full of the cold and coughing and exhausted? I am. I'm going to take next week off and be done with it. I called my gp and they are going to sign me off for the week.

I went back straightaway but I wasn't particularly ill with it, my relative had to have a month off.

Arbitan · 24/10/2021 21:30

My isolation ended yesterday and I’m going back to the office tomorrow. However, I haven’t been ill at all with it - no symptoms - so no reason not to return.

If you’re unfit for work you should call in.

Willow200 · 24/10/2021 21:47

Funny how experiences vary. I had a lot of symptoms but the lingering ones are definitely exhaustion, dizziness and just overall weakness. Cough is mostly gone but I'm getting out of breath easily.

I had 16 weeks off as I developed long covid, really struggled even with a phased return and have had to cut my hours right down.

Athinginitself · 24/10/2021 22:08

Try not to to worry about it being covid and just treat it like any illness and go back when you are well enough. I was off for 4 months and then have had to cut my hours further (only worked part time anyway)

middleager · 24/10/2021 23:18

A month.

NeedSleepNow · 24/10/2021 23:29

I am worrying about this. My isolation ends tomorrow but I am not well. I have constant headache and sore throat, full of cold, dizziness, aches and exhaustion. I definitely couldn't make it through the day without a nap at the moment.

I work in a school so am now going into half term. I'm. Hoping that in another week I will be feeling slightly better and ready to go in to work. But if I still feel like this towards the end of this week I will speak to my gp about getting a sick note at I couldn't work feeling the way I am right now.

Take some time off and rest if you need to. You're more likely to end up with long term problems if you push yourself too hard too soon.

Having said that, my overwhelming fatigue and general weakness magically lifted on around day 11, which happened to be a Sunday. So I went back to work and felt absolutely fine.Smile
