This is either the cold from absolute hell or I’ve got it….

Been in bed most of the day, but came up at 9pm to sleep and I feel so poorly I can’t

I’m bunged up, coughing, headache, my eyes ache, I’ve got shooting pains in my ears and bizarrely my knees too.

I’ve been presuming it’s a cold as did a LFT yesterday and was negative but it’s got steadily worse for 3 days and I’m now feeling as poorly as I have in many many years.

I’ll order a PCR tomorrow…

Any experiences to share - I have of course been double vaxxed but my last jab was in mid May

My last jab was June and I’m wondering if it’s going to help at all when I get it.

There is a cold from hell going round. My colleague currently has Covid after being double vaccinated, she said the cold from hell a couple of weeks ago was much worse!

UCL researchers have found that LFTs are more effective when you have symptoms.

There was something on the BBC news website a few days ago about the "worst cold ever" is going around. Due to social distancing/mask wearing we have all been exposed to less coughs and colds. Now restrictions have been lifted they are coming back with and are nasty. We have all had it over the past week or so, not felt so ill for a long time.

I wouldn't say they're no good. They're 90% effective when you're contagious.

I know family members recently knocked out with colds from hell Op but we are in the southwest so more dubious about the reliability of PCR tests now. I had covid and it was a mild cold with unpleasant chest pain. Hope you feel better soon!

I've heard lots of people with covid describe shooting pains (joints, diaphragm, legs etc) so that sounds pretty diagnostic to me!

Take another lateral flow while you wait for your PCR?

I had cold symptoms when I had Covid recently but they were accompanied by a loss of smell and taste. My mum recently had the cold that's going round, (negative PCR) she was iller than I was when I had Covid.

I had this cold virus thing three weeks ago. It wiped me out. I would normally drag my carcass to work but I just couldn’t move. It started off as a cold and then two days later it was streaming nose and eyes. Aches and pains. No fever, just exhausted. It eventually went into my chest and turned into a chest infection.
I tested negative on 2x LFT and PCR tests.
Weirdly I now have the common cold, sniffles, heady and again tested negative.

See if you can get hold of some of the nose snoring strips, they just hold your nostrils open a bit and I find them brilliant when I have a stuffed up nose that makes it hard to sleep.

Get plenty of rest, look after yourself and hopefully it will go away soon whether it's covid or a cold Thanks

The Cold From Hell made me feel worse than the Covid I've just recovered from! Grin
Seriously though, you really need to book a PCR as soon as you think you've got a decent cough. And the bloody government need to update their Covid symptoms to reflect cold-like symptoms especially sneezing and running nose. Particularly since most of us are vaccinated and present differently.

Have you done another LFT test? When I recently had covid I had shooting pains down my bones in my arms, legs which was weird and aching eyes to name a few.

I've just had the cold from hell. Ended up with the worst throat infection. Felt worse than when I had covid at the beginning of the summer hols .

I'm on day 26 of one of the worst colds of my life. PCR Tested multiple times and it's not Rona. Whilst I'm definitely at the end of it the first three weeks broke me many times.

We (family of 5) had this. Did LFTs, four negative. My son used a different make to the rest of us and his was positive. So we all redid with his box and then two came up positive, two negative. PCR test 24 hrs later showed we were all positive.
LFT are crap.

Also had the cold from hell, mine turned into a horrid sinus infection. Completely lost sense of taste and smell, I'm 3 weeks in and only just starting to feel human again.

I think the cold from hell is corona! Mine started like this. Tested lft was negative the first two/three days of symptoms then positive by 4th day. Pcr confirmed it was corona. Kept doing the lft out of curiosity and by 5th day negative again.
It presented as a cold at first for all the people I know too. The government really need to update the symptoms advise to get a pcr.

Thank you all. DH is taking me to get a PCR. Terrible night and pounding head this morning. Trying to juggle working from home as well and all I want to do is hide under a duvet with my eyes closed and stuff myself full of cold and flu

I'm recovering from the worst cold I can remember at the moment. Came down with it after a get together with colleagues a couple of weeks back. Splitting headache, aching, sneezing, exhausted. Still blocked up and off work over a week later (my last sick day was years ago). Did several lateral flows and all negative. Day 5 did a PCR despite none of the 3 symptoms just because I was so wiped out - also negative. So I think there is just something awful going around. I hope you feel better soon OP

Yes, totally this! I am positive. Shooting pains and aching eyes.

Sorry OP. I would put money in it being covid. It's been so mild though. Not even bad cold level.
