Dc positive, me negative, test again?

Dc1 first test was negative. Tested again 3 days later, I tested at the same time along with dc2. Only dc1 positive.

Should/can I test me and dc2 again? I'm amazed that I haven't got it. Dc1 has got a very very persistent cough.

I had this. One DC and DH positive middle of sept. Me and other 2 DC didn’t get it despite lack of social distancing.
That’s the good news.
But I have it now a month later.
Cant understand how can live in same household / share a bed and not get it but have picked it up from work (school) or elsewhere.

Did you do any further tests? I think I'm going to. My parents are ECV so I want to be as sure as I can be.

We are a family of 5. 1 had it. No one else caught it in spite of sharing beds etc.

Neighbours 2 of 4 got it. Friends 3 of 4. It seems odd especially since our DD caught it from a fairly short, though close contact. I'd have thought it spread quickly in our house. Open the windows now you know and distance etc where you can. You may be lucky.

Tested
On day 2 and 7 or 8. This time haven’t bothered testing DC early, just daily lat flows. Going to take them for a PCR tomo - my symptoms started Monday.

SonnetForSpring · 21/10/2021 23:26

2 have it in our house. 2 don't. Taking daily lateral flows and will do another PCR soon

MoistTowelette · 22/10/2021 10:34

Same. Youngest child tested positive. Myself, DH and other DD didn't get it.
We didn't make youngest DD isolate as she had a fair amount of anxiety and was having nightmares. I ended up sleeping in her room for a week as she was quite ill also.

MrsBungle · 22/10/2021 10:36

When my dd had it none of the rest of our household got despite no social distancing from her.

Bobholll · 22/10/2021 10:41

Don’t assume you’ll catch it.

I’ve just had it. My husband & 2 young children didn’t get it. Not a symptom among them & 2x negative PCR’s (& lateral flows for the kids who continued to go to school/nursery).

We didn’t isolate. We continued to share beds etc, I continued to hug my children. My kids are young & I completely disagree with isolating away from each other. They need their parents ❤️ we are young, healthy & very low risk as a caveat.

ImFree2doasiwant · 22/10/2021 12:25

@Bobholll yes I can't isolate from a 6yr old child, I'm single, as you say I'm not going to not hug him. I did ask him not to cough in my face though. Hmm

I have to do daily lateral flow tests for work now, and will PCR test again tomorrow I think.

Thanks.

All 5 of us got it. It took 2 PCRs to show with DH and me, and 3 PCRs to show with DD1. But we all had symptoms.
