Hey guys. I'm day 2 into having covid, I've had both jabs I had Astra Zeneca back in the beginning of the year and to say I feel utterly deathly is an understatement!

How long can I expect to feel so poorly? Sad is there any magic remedy or medication you found helped your symptoms? Thanks Sad

I haven't had covid YET but I wish you a speedy recovery. Plenty of rest.x

Tiredout123 · 21/10/2021 20:19

Hi. I also had 2x AZ jabs. On day 14 now I think. Out of isolation obviously. So much better. Have been left with a sinus infection though and am on antibs. Had difficulty with chest tightness and an awful cough, no sense of smell or taste. Cough has pretty much gone now.

There is hope, OP! Try the lemsip sachet drinks, sinus ease nasal spray, vicks vapour rub, lots of drinks, lots of rest, good ventilation, prop yourself up, eat little and often x

Wagsandclaws · 21/10/2021 20:19

I'm in day 11 and taste and smell are just starting to come back. Chest still sore but improving. I felt pretty shit for the first week ( I'm double jabbed with AZ ) but I've had quite bad colds and viruses before so this wasn't massively worse. I needed steroids for my asthma and some antibiotics fit a secondary chest infection but I have type 2 diabetes so sort of expected it not to be plain sailing.

Hope you are on the mend v soon op, lots of rest, paracetamol and fluids are the order of the day Thanks

Hello I was going to start a similar thread. It’s miserable isn’t it. I’m not sure what day I’m on: I had a bit of a tickly cough at the weekend then tested positive on Monday morning, but felt properly worse on Tuesday, and even more on Wednesday, and worse again today.

I have had two doses of AZ, but all my kids have the virus at the moment so I guess I got it from then.

Goodness only knows what this’d be like without a vaccination.

MelKarnofskyCrane · 21/10/2021 20:20

What does it feel like OP? Fluey and achey?

KILNAMATRA · 21/10/2021 20:21

I’m 15 days post testing positive and felt normal again after day 12 or 13.. I’m taking vitamins. I don’t know if the vitamins made any difference or not, but I’m grateful to feel better, I had shivers cough and bad sinus headaches snd flattening tiredness..

Escapedgoats · 21/10/2021 20:35

Day 14 now and am finally turning a corner. 😊

SunsetStyle · 21/10/2021 20:37

Reminder to self to stock up on Beechams or whatever. You never know when it'll catch you. I've escaped so far as far as I'm aware.
Feel better soon OP!

RenegadeMasterx · 21/10/2021 21:12

@MelKarnofskyCrane

What does it feel like OP? Fluey and achey?
Erm yes I would say it feels the same as flu. There isn't a place on my body that doesn't hurt, I have also been sick and have diarrhoea. I feel like I copped unlucky and have every symptom in the book 😫 I can't smell or taste a thing now either. X

Day 2 for me as well, so thought I'd say hi! Not doing too badly so far, quite tired, nose feels 'funny' - not sure how else to describe it! Not really blocked or runny, just weird. Was very achy yesterday but not so much today. Heading to bed in a sec though which is much earlier than usual!

DH and DD have had it; DD just out of isolation and DH almost done. That's why I was doing daily LFTs. Tuesday totally negative, Wednesday clear positive line. Same story today. Going to do an LFT every day to watch the progress; I've heard that they are a good indicator in terms of whether you're infectious. Want to make sure that damn line has disappeared again by the time I'm allowed back out into the world.

I'm 100% isolating and was for several days before testing positive as I knew it was so likely. But I am breaking the rules by not getting a PCR. It's definitely COVID, two different types of LFT giving the same strong positive result. I will do the full self-isolation period. But I don't have any close contacts except DH and DD who I caught it from, and I cannot bear to deal with Test and Sodding Trace again!

TiddleTaddleTat · 21/10/2021 21:16

Day 9/10 here. Awful cough, snotty and very occasional chest tightness. Double jabbed with AZ. Had Covid in the first wave and this has been quite different - much more cold - like than flu like the first time. I then got long covid so I'm hoping it doesn't get me again. I'm finding I'm able to do basic stuff around the house but working from home has really wiped me out. Think I will avoid too much exercise etc for a good while as that was probably what tipped me into long covid last time. Basically just treat yourself very gently for at least a month or so after recovery, if you can.

IWishTheBishopWell · 21/10/2021 21:19

The best advice I can give you is to rest. It really shocked me how rough I felt. I have underlying conditions so was supported by the Covid Monitoring Service and they said resting up properly is the best thing you can do.

Don't push yourself too hard, drink plenty of fluids and get as much rest as you can.

Traveller104 · 21/10/2021 21:25

This is actually a really helpful thread as I was letting to find some real life examples of how people are feeling which is not from the media.

I tested positive on Monday (started coughing on Sunday and did two LTF tests which both came up positive immediately I dropped the fluid on them.. did two because I thought first one was duff because of the speed it responded).

Monday coughed and snuffled with a heavy head cold

Tuesday coughed and snuffled even more.. lost sense of taste and smell which is really weird

Wednesday definitely started feeling under the weather and interspersed working from home with naps.. weirdly around mid day I felt most dizzy and light headed. Eyes and sinuses started to really sting and be uncomfortable

Today.. same as yesterday with that weird mid day dizzy feeling…

Overall, tired, coughing and sniffly. Temperature so far has remained normal and oximeter fluctuates between 94 and 96.
Napping definitely helps.

LemonWeb · 21/10/2021 21:40

ugh test and trace. I had a phone call from someone today who read a script at me reminding me I needed to self isolate. Surely no-one is going to change their behaviour on the basis of having some gobbledygook read at them over the phone? Why is the government wasting money on this? If it wants us to self isolate then perhaps allow the call centre workers to deviate from the script.

Daisydolly1986 · 21/10/2021 21:49

The buggar caught me too. I have also been double vaccinated with Pfizer. I felt very poorly for a few days, the feverish feeling was the worst, which lasted 8 days. I'm on day 19 now, well 19 days after positive LFT. I still have a mild dry cough, no smell atall and limited taste.

My 2 children also had it, and dealing with 2 children who are still in nappies with 'covid poo's' whilst poorly myself, has been tortuous to say the least.

Rest is your friend here, feel better soon

Bimblesalong · 21/10/2021 23:53

Day fiveish here. The fatigue is a killer. Explosive sneezing and nose like a tap here, awful headache. Sneezing and headache much reduced today but tonsils are bulging so I wonder if my throat is coming up.
Can’t get out of bed for long and can’t manage to read a book let alone an email. Have signed off work whilst I recover.
Reminds me of the nasty flu I had a few years ago, only weirder.
Tongue feels like it is deactivating from the middle out. Some residual taste left but gradually going.

I’d like to think I’ll be well enough to return to work after half term. The uncertainty is a bugger.

middleager · 22/10/2021 00:12

Wishing you a speedy recovery. My top tip is rest, fluid, painkillers. Try not to lie on your back/lungs too much. Use an oximeter.

I think most of us reporting on here are double jabbed (I had AZ) and it's not unusual, unfortunately.

Codswallop20 · 22/10/2021 00:13

Sleep on your front.

Justonemoreepisode · 22/10/2021 07:21

I’m on day 4, double jabbed - AZ. Like others fatigue has been the worse, ok whilst laying/sitting in bed but even walking across the room wears me out.
Everyday I wake up to a fresh set of symptoms- today’s is being covered in hives.
Hopes everyone has a speedy recovery Flowers

MegaClutterSlut · 22/10/2021 07:50

Hellish 2 weeks of Covid with every symptom going despite my 2 AZ jabs. I've had breathing problems the last couple of days which are so bad that I can't walk down the stairs without stopping halfway down and getting shortness of breath and having to stop. Just when I think I've turned a corner it gets worse with a different symptom

BlibBlabBlob · 22/10/2021 09:01

I forgot to say that I too had AZ in April and March. Early 40s with no known underlying health conditions and normal BMI.

Had a strong reaction to the first jab, in fact it made me way more ill than COVID has so far.

But I'm only on Day 3 of testing positive.

So worried that I will become very unwell. Oximeter being delivered today as my smart watch is delivering some worryingly low pulse ox readings.

Also, having COVID at the same time as a very heavy perimenopausal period is NOT fun!

BlibBlabBlob · 22/10/2021 09:01

Gah not April and March.

April and JULY.
