Hey guys. I'm day 2 into having covid, I've had both jabs I had Astra Zeneca back in the beginning of the year and to say I feel utterly deathly is an understatement!

How long can I expect to feel so poorly? Sad is there any magic remedy or medication you found helped your symptoms? Thanks Sad

@Eightytwenty sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed they will test negative.

I'm feeling a bit better today, but still very weak.

Technically I get out of isolation tomorrow but I don't think I'll be going very far...

BatshitCrazyWoman · 24/10/2021 11:47

My symptoms started on 12 October (I lost my voice!). Now 12 days later I'm struggling with exhaustion, tight sore chest, breathlessness and loss of taste and smell. Not bothered about eating to be honest. No way am I up to my long commute just yet, I'm not awake at 7 am, when I'd normally be leaving the house. I'm WFH next week, hopefully I'll keep recovering.

I'm 57 and have had both AZ vaccinations.

TiddleTaddleTat · 24/10/2021 11:52

I'm out of isolation as of yesterday but still have a chesty cough and need to blow my nose every few minutes. Exhaustion so far is not too bad (last time this was horrendous). No taste or smell. I am being careful about being too active as with any post viral recovery it has to be about careful pacing - I learnt this the hard way with long covid last time. I wfh but will need to be in the office in a week. Think I can do bits here and there as long as it's interspersed with rest. Limiting activity generally though.

Day 6 for me today (Day 1 being first positive LFT, although I was feeling ropey for two days before that). Feeling really tired and lightheaded. Got a bit achy again today and had to take a couple of paracetamol. Last night my nose was running so much that my eyes were also pouring with tears and I was utterly miserable. Dosed myself up on nasal spray and antihistamine tablet to help myself sleep, which worked, and I'm not quite as bad in that respect today.

Realised this morning though that I've lost my sense of taste and smell. Coffee doesn't really smell of anything and tastes like hot water i.e. of nothing much at all. And I drink STRONG black coffee! Am terrified that this will be a long-lasting symptom or I'll end up with parosmia. I would really struggle to cope with that.

On the bright side, I think my LFT line is a bit weaker today. So presumably I'm starting to become less infectious. And DD and DH are both out of self-isolation now, so even though I can't leave the house at least they can nip out to the shop or the chippy. Not that I even want chippy tea, because I bet it'll be tasteless Sad.

Hey all! Still feeling rotten, day 9 I think for me now, I have been extremely breathless last few days which doesn't seem to be getting any easier, my sense of smell and taste is still nowhere to be seen aswell. I feel better as in no more aching joints/sore skin etc, but the nausea, breathlessness and fatigue is still very much with me. My two children have got it aswell now, touch wood they're ok except sore throats and mild headaches. Nothing a drop of Calpol can't help. Must admit it's taken the wind out of my sails though, feel like a broken woman SadConfused how are you all doing? I really hope you're all feeling better and no one's too poorly. XX

It’s horrible isn’t it.
I’ve been out of iso 3 weeks now and still don’t feel right. Ok to carry on my day as normal but feel tired and achy still sometimes.

Something to be a glimmer of light - in the short term being double jabbed is associated with less risk of dying from anything else. Quote from the Economist.

"Now a recent report from the Centres for Disease Control (cdc) in America has produced a novel, and even mysterious, reason to be glad for a covid-19 vaccination. The cdc data show that people vaccinated with the Pfizer or Moderna covid-19 jabs are one-third as likely to die of other causes too."

SlurpleThePurple · 30/10/2021 13:11

I'm on day 7 (I guess day 8 if you count the day my sore throat started in the evening) here and still not good. I am early 30's with no health conditions and double Pfizer jabbed. I didn't expect it to be this bad to be honest.

My nose seems to have stopped running as much today but I've developed a cough in the past couple of days and it's really starting to hurt my chest. I have been spending most of my time in bed, mostly to try and keep my distance from DH. Thought i wasn't feeling that bad today until I've just gone downstairs and walking down and being stood up kills my chest and the top of my back (like the opposite side of my chest if that makes sense!) and I felt awful. I've come back to bed to lie down. Lost my sense of taste and smell 3 days ago. I hope it doesn't disappear for too long. I've found eating salt and vinegar crisps is quite good as you get the crunchy texture and can sense the salty/tangy-ness even though you can't taste it. DH has bought me a big bag of those twirly ones which look like fusilli pasta.

I am finding it quite hard and cried a bit last night as I couldn't sleep. I feel for the people who have been very unwell with covid.

Dd tested positive last week so it's her first day out of isolation today. DH managed to avoid so far so I'm hoping that continues.

bathsh3ba · 30/10/2021 14:09

I tested positive on LFT on Monday, so I guess this is day 6, though I had an odd headache on and off last weekend. Overnight Sunday to Monday I had a really weird ache behind all of my face and my legs ached too. I tested first thing on Monday and positive. I'd tested negative on the Sun morning as my DD12 tested positive on the Sat eve. She had a confirmatory PCR but I didn't bother as it's clearly COVID and I'll do the isolation but, like others, don't want to involve the utterly useless Test and Trace in my life.

Compared to others, I seem to have got off lightly so far. After day 1 with the weird aches, it's just felt like I have a cold. The cough has been mild and today I feel fine apart from an occasional cough. I have an oximeter and I've stayed at 97-99 throughout.

I'm 39, double vaxxed, BMI 40 with an additional underlying condition, so I was expecting to do worse than this. My DD12 is better now and tested negative on LFT this morning (she'll still finish her full isolation).

stripeypaws · 30/10/2021 14:22

I'm on day 7 and feel almost back to normal now (touch wood). I'm mid 40s, unvaccinated, generally fit and healthy with no underlying conditions.
On the first day I felt 'fluey' with temperature in the mid to high 37s and a mild headache. Not as bad the second day, and then increasingly a bit better every day since. Tending to feel a bit worse in the morning, with a slightly raised temperature, and then better as the day went on. I had a bit of backache on day 4.
My husband is early 40s, also not vaccinated, a bit overweight but generally healthy. He got it first and also only had it mildly (although he also had a cough which is still lingering) and now feels pretty much recovered.

We've both been taking plenty of vitamins during the course of the illness which I'm sure have helped - including vitamin D, C, Zinc, quercetin, black cumin seed oil, melatonin, and plenty of manuka honey and ginger tea.

Unfortunately we've both lost our sense of taste and smell, which is horrible, am really hoping that doesn't last too long!

Wishing everyone a quick recovery.
