How quickly did you get reinfected?

If you or your kids had covid twice, how quickly did you get reinfected?
DD had covid at the beginning of September. Today she has a little cough. Surely it can't be covid again so soon? She is not meant to have a pcr test for 90 days after her positive test ...

A friends daughter had tested positive with symptoms on lateral flow today. She had Covid in September 😞

Surely it can't be that quick??

A month sounds quick. Perhaps it never cleared up, don't they say you shouldn't test until 90 days after a positive?

You can test positive on both LFT and PCR for up to 90 days after infection. Highly unlikely she has Covid again so soon, it will be lingering symptoms from the original infection.

I really hope she's just got a cold. We are visiting my elderly parents at the moment and I thought we were low risk as we had covid so recently...

Isn’t the official advice to not retest unless you have symptoms? I’m a bit confused by that too, because if you tested you may show positive because of the previous infection, so how does that help?

Other illnesses exist.

There is a nasty cold going around at the moment bbc reported on it a while ago. My 6 year old had covid beginning of September and now has a chesty cough. He only had a snotty nose with covid, was only tested as dh had symptoms. He is more poorly with the cold now than he was with covid.

Yes, my mum had the terrible cold recently that floored her, she had to take a week off work. Negative PCR. She felt worse than I did when I had Covid.

Apparently her daughter has been showing negative for 3 weeks since her last infection but is now testing positive. Dr had told to isolate again!
Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/10/2021 20:07

That's why you aren't supposed to test for 90 days after Covid. Bit silly of her to be doing tests. I had Covid in August and will not be doing any LFT until the 90 days is up.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/10/2021 20:08

Still doesn't mean she has been reinfected by the way, makes no difference that the other tests were negative.
