How many of you will comply?

I am interested to know if people will comply or not if they bring in Restrictions again about not mixing households, not seeing family or lockdowns etc again.
So many people I've spoken to are pretty much all of the same mindset of 'Fu#k that I'm not not seeing my family again, enough is enough and we have to get on with our lives now'
I also read this a lot on comments of articles where people are saying no they won't do it again and not see their loved ones or be told what to do over Christmas etc.

What are everyone's overall feelings as things stand right now?

OP posts:

No we won’t be complying. Missed our last Christmas with relative who is still physically here but does not know who you are most days, gone downhill very rapidly we believe due to last years restrictions and seeing so few people.
Plus almost lost relative on DH side in June, not Covid related at all, we won’t be missing what could be any bodies last Christmas.

einekleinenachtarbeit · 21/10/2021 13:24

So all those saying they won't comply, that the government cannot be trusted and that the NHS needs more investment rather than lockdowns to protect it - presumably you'd vote for someone else if there was a GE next year ?

bluetuesdayy · 21/10/2021 13:25

No chance. Would wfh and wear a mask but I will not stop seeing loved ones indoors. Everyone I know feels the same.

sukisi · 21/10/2021 13:25

We'll comply because my family are mostly cautious so they won't be inviting us over. I am not too bothered about seeing them and at Christmas I prefer taking my dc out to events and shows. I'll be sad if those get cancelled again but there's nothing I can do to make them go ahead. I expect that her nursery will stay open so at least she'll have fun there.

I've mostly stopped wearing masks where its voluntary but I'll put one back on if it means being able to visit places. I'd be quite pleased tbh if furlough returned as I have a limited company, but I don't think it will.

Dippydinosaurus · 21/10/2021 13:25

@2bazookas

I will continue to do everything asked of us, in order to keep us safe and well.

And, to protect and support my family working in NHS, who are weary and tired and furious at all their efforts and sacrifice being thrown back in their faces by lazy selfish morons who can't be bothered to take simple basic precautions.

Someone in my family works for the NHS. But she doesn't blame the general public/think they're lazy selfish morons. She blames the government for crap working conditions and relying on bank staff to plug the recruitment gap. The flu (and now covid) is stretching resources. But the government are well aware of this every single year. Do they do anything about it? No, do they fuck. It's easier to blame us, like you're doing
ilovesooty · 21/10/2021 13:27

@Whammyyammy

I will not be told that I can't see my family or forced to wear a face nappy/comfort blanket ever again
I thought people using language like that were only on Facebook.

I wouldn't be voting. Without going into the reasons why (there's another thread running on that) I don't feel comfortable voting for any of the major parties.
ilovesooty · 21/10/2021 13:28

@Whammyyammy

Bring it on. Best £1 I've spent. Cheaper than face nappies
Pathetic.
Stuffin · 21/10/2021 13:30

No and if they make masks mandatory again then I simply won't shop in person or visit those places.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 21/10/2021 13:31

Not sure "pathetic" covers it, ilovesooty

Skeumorph · 21/10/2021 13:32

No, I won't 'comply' with a single suggestion which comes from this useless, self-serving, lying shower of piggies with their snouts in the trough.

I will be careful as that's what I already do. I already avoid gatherings, choose meeting places carefully, stay outside to meet, I'm not using pubs or indoor seating for restaurants.

None of that has anything to do with what the absolute jerks who 'run' this country might say. I've no interest in listening to them, they sicken me. They have no authority, moral or otherwise, to speak for us any more - if they ever did!

Honestly I await the day we end up with riots not seen since the Poll Tax. I'll be clapping, front row (as long as it's outside) :)

No, it probably doesn't.
Mantlemoose · 21/10/2021 13:33

I won't comply and I only broke the rules once (drove 10 miles more than I should have although not to see anyone). I am CEV but I would rather have no life than that mockery of one.

When you resort to the "face nappy" nonsense you might as well hold up a sign saying "I have no clue what I'm talking about but I believe any old rubbish I read on Facebook".

umm, yes?!!! obviously!

Who in their right mind would vote for this government again?!!!!!!

Well I voted for a different party in the last GE, and the one before that, and… well, I’ve never voted Tory in a GE.

Although I did briefly join the Conservative Party specifically to vote against Boris in the leadership contest. So I’ve literally done everything in my power to avoid the current government.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 21/10/2021 13:47

Find me a viable party @siestalady and I will vote. Any viable party. I only have 2 criteria:

  1. They have actual policies.
  2. They don't spout all the transwomen are women crap.

I am in my late 50s and have never missed a vote, until the last GE.

Labour lost me due to point 2. All parties made me politically homeless due to a combination of both. Even our local "Hug the Trees" independent candidate fails.

I'm with you on point 2!
penguin23 · 21/10/2021 13:50

I will not comply. The government don't follow their own rules and what was the point of vaccinating everyone if we have to lockdown again. The damage done to my young daughter's mental health from not seeing family or friends for a prolonged period of time, and home schooling, is probably irreversible, as it is for most kids. I'm done.

cassgate · 21/10/2021 13:52

No won’t be complying. I said on another thread that the majority of people who have been seriously ill or died of covid fall into 3 categories 1) the old 2) underlying health conditions 3) overweight/obese or a combination of all 3. Obviously, there will be exceptions but that goes for other illnesses too and we don’t lockdown and put our lives on hold for those. On a personal level, I have been double jabbed, had covid last Xmas and will get the booster when invited (November). Both dc’s caught covid within a week of being back at school in September. Dd had had her 1st jab during the summer holidays. She will get her 2nd jab next week. Ds missed out on his 1st jab because it happened at school while he was off with Covid. We will book for him to have it at a vaccination centre. As far as I am concerned me and my family have fulfilled our part and protected ourselves as far as possible and now want to go about life without any restrictions.

But failing to comply isn't sticking it to the government. They're not bothered if you're ill and die, apart from the fact that you'll bugger up the statistics. You're sticking it to the rest of the country.
HoardingSamphireSaurus · 21/10/2021 13:56

@siestalady I'd even vote Tory, if I could find a handful of policies that seemed to be viable, coherent, lacking in kneejerk reactions or headline grabbing hyperbole.

And I say that as an ex teacher who has a personal axe to grind with all things Tory because of successive EdSecs, Goviot, Morgan etc.

It's not like I am not looking, either!

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 21/10/2021 13:57

The point of restrictions, masks etc went ----> thataway!

But complying is just enabling the government to carry on placing the burden on the public to keep the wolves from the door of the NHS. If people comply, they'll know they can rely on annual winter lockdowns for ever more and continue to underfund and under-resource.

Beautiful3 · 21/10/2021 13:58

No. I've had enough. My mother died during the lockdown, as a result of all her support and medical appointments being postponed. I haven't seen my grandmother since before lockdown, as her home has only recently allowed 2 named visitors. I get to see her on a Skype call but she can't see or hear me, I want to be able to hug her. Lockdown lead to my neighbours cancer to spread, as they postponed her chemo in the middle of its course. Lockdown and its affects, has really affected people both physically and mentally.
