How many of you will comply?

I am interested to know if people will comply or not if they bring in Restrictions again about not mixing households, not seeing family or lockdowns etc again.
So many people I've spoken to are pretty much all of the same mindset of 'Fu#k that I'm not not seeing my family again, enough is enough and we have to get on with our lives now'
I also read this a lot on comments of articles where people are saying no they won't do it again and not see their loved ones or be told what to do over Christmas etc.

What are everyone's overall feelings as things stand right now?

it's in societies interest to keep cases low, but most people have no idea about the reality of that and think ah it'll cope it'll be fine.

And that falls entirely on the government to sort out the NHS crisis it's not societies responsibility to stop living. If people really believe that then maybe they should be applying to be Drs and nurses in their droves.

nether · 21/10/2021 13:01

We have to.

Because we have a highly vulnerable person in the household. And the government wouidnt even think of bringing in a measure like that unless we had reached very high transmission (even now at over 400 per 100,000 it's not in the cards - just think how high it would have to be for it to become so).

But if they did, so many people are clearly not going to comply that there just won't beanywhere safe enough to go.

Because the person has a condition that means although they have now had three primaries, their immune system means that the jabs might simply not work. And their comirbidity is hugely over represented in both ICU admissions and deaths.

@DietCokeChipsAndMayo

No I won’t comply

The whole point off all the restrictions was to protect the vulnerable/elderly and the nhs
Well we’ve done that, all the vulnerable are vaccinated and the nhs is fine, the extra hospitals built weren’t even used - so life MUST go on now or we could do this forever

What stone have you been hiding under? The NHS is not fine.

The NHS is ON ITS KNEES. There is a gigantic backlog of people waiting for treatment, the 999 emergency ambul;ances services are backed up for hours , unprecedented numbers of exhausted NHS staff are resigning, retiring early, going on long term sick leave because the NHS just can't cope and their workload is impossible.

KatherineJaneway · 21/10/2021 13:04

No I will not comply.

Itistimeforquiche · 21/10/2021 13:07

But its not for the public to solve that by forcing everyone to hide away every single winter; its for the government to urgently add more capacity to the NHS. I completely appreciate that;s not something that can happen overnight, but as far as I can see, they've not even tried to increase capacity/recruit/extend; and all responsibility/blame has lay on the general public.

2389Champ · 21/10/2021 13:09

Why bother?

It seems that if you’re a politician, a celebrity or have a bank balance of at least £2 million, the rules don’t apply anyway.

A neighbour is a pilot for an executive jet company and he was as busy as ever throughout the first lockdown transporting the great and the (not so) good all over the world.

2bazookas · 21/10/2021 13:09

@JaneDoe21

No not a virus with a 99.9 percent recovery rate. We need to learn to live with it.
FSVO "recovery ".

Don't confuse "survival" ( still alive) with "recovery"
(return to previous health/strength)

Many young previously fit people who survive covid, do so with long-term damage which is going to change their lives for ever.

2Two · 21/10/2021 13:10

I would.

It is utterly ridiculous that we are seeing 50K new cases a day and 1K deaths a week, plus god knows how much by way of Long Covid and relates illnesses. It's perfectly avoidable and if this kind of restriction helps then I'm up for it.

simitra · 21/10/2021 13:11

Im 77 and have complied previously only because Im a non driver and I seldom go out anyway. However if I was younger and of a mind to socialise this time it would be F**K You Ive had enough.

Sick of the lies and hypocrisy in government and the media

whatswithtodaytoday · 21/10/2021 13:11

@Whammyyammy

Bring it on. Best £1 I've spent. Cheaper than face nappies
Unfortunately all you wearing these does is make people suspicious of everyone wearing one... which includes those who really cannot wear a mask.

But carry on, whatever. God forbid we curtail your precious 'freedoms' at the expense of everyone else.

2Two · 21/10/2021 13:12

Will you really desperately regret not seeing your family for a few weeks? Enough to risk serious illness, long term consequences and death?

Happy to look like a dick as I spend valuable time with my family. Enjoy looking like a Saint on your own 🤣🤣
garlicandsapphires · 21/10/2021 13:15

I would comply up to a point but life is too short to not see my elderly and much loved parents.

Warhertisuff · 21/10/2021 13:15

@SpeedRunParent

At hospitals across the country, ICU beds needed by post-operative patients are take up with Covid cases ( who generally require the beds for longer than the average post-op patient. Therefore, every Covid patient in an icu bed could be forcing the cancellation of several elective surgeries. Make no mistake, elective surgeries often include operations that people have already waited years for whilst their quality of life declines beyond all recognition and their pain becomes unbearable. I will do everything in my power that the the scientific consensus seems necessary to protect our nhs. How can not wanting to wear a mask trump the need to protect thousands of people from delayed operations? Let alone the possibility that we might spread the virus far more widely than is necessary.
If this is the issue then we should be looking to ration care... If 100% of adults were vaccinated, there would be very many more beds available, so if it's a choice between a ICU bed for someone who has chosen not to be vaccinated; and a bed for someone who needs the bed for an operation they sorely need, then it should go to the latter.

People may be horrified by the suggestion, but i don't see why those same people are equally horrified that someone who's negligently refused to take a free vaccine should be given preference over someone else. If the Government announced they were planning to do this, it would concentrate minds and probably increase vaccination rates! Unvaccinated Covid patients would still get oxygen, but there wouldn't be a ICU space available. One of the problems with the NHS is that it tries to do it all, when sometimes that's just not possible.

In an ideal world, yes of course it is the responsibility of the government, as they aren't arsed then people should take some responsibility too. And no, nurses and doctors are leaving in droves because conditions are shite and they aren't going to improve. Its already impossible to give people the care that they need, let alone when demand stretches further and people are being turned away- include those sure they won't require hospital care, many people don't plan on requiring it.

NHS trusts stuck in ‘unsustainable cycle of severe winter pressures’ fear winter worse than last year

There are “clear warning signs” that the coming winter will be even worse for NHS trusts than last year, a new report from NHS Providers has warned.

Growing staff shortages are putting “additional strain on a workforce already overstretched” and a greater pressure on mental health, community and ambulance services, which are amongst the primary concerns outlined in the ‘Steeling ourselves for winter 2018-19’ report.

Dontgetyerknicksinatwist · 21/10/2021 13:17

I will because I’ve seen first hand what this virus can do. I’ve lost two people close to me because of it. One of them a man in his 80s and much loved father and grand father. Another a young mum of two who’s poor children no longer have their mum. She had no underlying health conditions. I also know another person, a young man in his 20s who ended up in icu for weeks and is lucky to have got out alive…

True, this year its that but much worse, hope everyone enjoys.

Mellowfruitfulnessy · 21/10/2021 13:19

I would comply but angrily. The government need to ramp up vaccines and boosters. They are going too slowly and it’s idiocy.

What scaremongering bile.

Also to answer your question, yes, i would regret not seeing family for a few weeks (when lets face it, the two major lockdowns we have had have been for months not weeks). And yes, i do want to see them enough because i know that the risk of serious illness, long term consequences and death are a) highly unlikely and b) risks we took every day prior to covid anyway.

For a few weeks? What planet have you been living on? I didn't see them for months during the first lockdown so who's to say if the hypothetical plan c goes ahead it won't be months again? By which time it might be too late.

I'm clearly not going to force them to see me but if they want to I will.
