How many of you will comply?

I am interested to know if people will comply or not if they bring in Restrictions again about not mixing households, not seeing family or lockdowns etc again.
So many people I've spoken to are pretty much all of the same mindset of 'Fu#k that I'm not not seeing my family again, enough is enough and we have to get on with our lives now'
I also read this a lot on comments of articles where people are saying no they won't do it again and not see their loved ones or be told what to do over Christmas etc.

What are everyone's overall feelings as things stand right now?

I won't be!

NeverTheHootenanny · 21/10/2021 11:20

As far as I can see, we've pretty much played all our cards and have no significant new solutions that'll solve covid. Lockdowns just enable the government to continue to under-resource the NHS.

This about sums it up I think. If the vaccines aren’t the solution, then we need to prepare (and fund!) the NHS to deal with ongoing cases. We can’t keep going in and out of lockdowns/restrictions forever.

Cantstopthewaves · 21/10/2021 11:20

I will comply.

My CV parents may not be here today if I'd not complied last year.
Happily we've had time with them this year and made they've made more happy memories with my dc.
I'll be careful again this year as cases rise and comply with any restrictions in order to have them in our lives as long as possible.

Angel2702 · 21/10/2021 11:20

No not now. Covid is never going away if we do this now it will be every year. We’ve vaccinated as many as possible. Other than vaccinating teens with double dose there’s not much else that is going to stop this every year. We can’t live a half life where we can only see people in the summer.

Youhavesomethinginyourteeth · 21/10/2021 11:21

No I will not comply. Our compliance is prolonging this nightmare!

PurpleDaisies · 21/10/2021 11:21

I’ll be following the rules. Unless they limit outdoor exercise to once a day. That one is silly.

Gothichouse40 · 21/10/2021 11:22

Lilliangish, I totally agree but here they want it all. The mask thing has never bothered me and Im asthmatic, so could get an exemption but chose not to. I feel the reason here is too many people taking heed of conspiracy theorists and rubbish on Youtube, rather than listen to people who study pandemics/epidemics and have done so for 30-40 years. My beef is the amount of footballers and 'celebs' who seemed to do what they liked while ordinary people made huge sacrifices, and they wonder why people won't comply? I won't be complying either, I will go by what my family and friends want. Up here we are still wearing masks (supposedly) but less folk are willing to wear them and I get the impression folk think it's all over. I will continue to wear mine to protect me from non mask wearers who then procede to cough, splutter and sneeze all over the place. People just do what they want to do and that's the problem we have.

ShaneTheThird · 21/10/2021 11:22

Not a fucking chance. I think it's fucked up anyone allowed a government to make it illegal to see your own family in the first place. After Christmas we will be going into the third year of this shit. 3 years! No chance in hell.

appplesanddpearrs · 21/10/2021 11:22

@Reallybadidea

I will because I'm quite keen on there being an ambulance/hospital bed if one of my loved ones needs it.
You personally complying with a lockdown doesn't mean there will be a bed or ambulance available specifically for your loved ones if/when they need it.
Mindareno · 21/10/2021 11:22

@siestalady

Thing is, for those who say they'll comply, where does it end? The first couple of lockdowns were all about buying time before we had vaccines. Well now we have vaccines. And they're great, but they're not perfect. As far as I can see, we've pretty much played all our cards and have no significant new solutions that'll solve covid. Lockdowns just enable the government to continue to under-resource the NHS.
This is my thought.

I would comply because I’m scared of getting caught. Previously I have felt a moral duty to comply, but i wouldn’t now. In my opinion, if it’s about hospitalisations, given so many hospitalised are non-vaccinated through choice, that’s what the government needs to be targeting, not imposing nasty restrictions on the population at large. I resent being told I can’t see my family so that people can refuse a jab.

I already still wear my mask etc so no issue with plan B. My answer is specifically about household mixing.

KrispyKale · 21/10/2021 11:23

We have lateral flow tests that we'll take before visiting the aged parents.
We will take any vaccines offered, as are the parents.

Chessie678 · 21/10/2021 11:23

Definitely not. I don’t think it was ever right to stop people seeing their friends and family. I’d be very worried about the normalisation of the idea that the government makes it illegal to see your family whenever hospitals get busy. That’s not a world I want my DS to grow up in and I would actively break the rule as much as I could and be vocal about the reason for that to anyone who asked.

Dishhh · 21/10/2021 11:24

@Youhavesomethinginyourteeth

No I will not comply. Our compliance is prolonging this nightmare!

Um ... I'm not sure I'm following your logic. Can you explain further? How does compliance extend a pandemic?

Mindareno · 21/10/2021 11:24

@Reallybadidea

I will because I'm quite keen on there being an ambulance/hospital bed if one of my loved ones needs it.
I totally get that, but real likelihood the ambulance/bed we want will be taken up by an unvaxxed person. That makes me rage.
Rosehip10 · 21/10/2021 11:24

Why should we when boris and carrie don't bother?

Comefromaway · 21/10/2021 11:24

No I will not comply

ChorizoJacketPotato · 21/10/2021 11:24

Definitely not. I have complied fully but the conspiracy theorists keep being proved right.

GoodnightGrandma · 21/10/2021 11:25

I saw my DM through lockdown anyway, so it makes no difference to me.
And as a nurse I’m happy to comply.

brittleheadgirl · 21/10/2021 11:25

Absolutely won't comply.
Not a f*ing chance.

KrispyKale · 21/10/2021 11:26

I've clearly missed the Boris/ Carrie story but is anyone truly surprised by these jokers?

hanahsaunt · 21/10/2021 11:26

My husband is a hospital consultant. I bear witness to the toll it is taking on NHS staff. He is at breaking point but will continue because that is his calling. So of course I will conply not that it will be enormously different as we choose to take a European vaccine plus approach anyway.

Dancerinthedark01 · 21/10/2021 11:27

*Can you explain further? How does compliance extend a pandemic?8

Well it wasn't me that said that. But I understand what was meant. The longer we all carry on complying with all this nonsense the longer the government thinks they are getting away with it (which in fact they are). The sooner we start to put our foot down the sooner they put an end to this.

PicsInRed · 21/10/2021 11:29

No.

The NHS is supposed to exist to protect us or truthfully to ensure we could muster fitter soldiers than the conscripts we actually had in the world wars but whatever, not the other way around - and certainly the NHS should not be invoked as a rationale to do us harm. Keeping young and healthy people cloistered at home where they grow depressed, overweight, unwell and impoverished is not a viable answer to the question "how do we protect the elderly and infirm".

Lockdowns are harm on a mass population level. It was right to lockdown in the early and short term, yes, but it's wrong as a repeated and long term measure, and we shouldn't engage further with it.

doublemonkey · 21/10/2021 11:29

No, won't comply.

We have a greater duty of care now.

GoodnightGrandma · 21/10/2021 11:31

And I’ve not stopped wearing a mask in shops, it seems the sensible thing to do.
