Has anyone tested positive for covid whilst breastfeeding?

I have been breastfeeding for over a year now with no issues with supply, I tested positive for covid and now my baby can be suckling for 5/10 minutes before any let down and even then there doesn't seem to be a lot there.

I'm quiet concerned because We are not ready to stop our breastfeeding journey just yet. Hopefully its just something that will pass soon.

Thankyou

Maybe worth contacting health visitor or gp if concerned about milk supply

Let down gradually waned with me around age one, stress can affect it. I found going back to work affected it. There will be milk just not the huge letdown effect.

I'm still feeding at nearly 3,5 and Cath remember the last time I had let down. For a while it would only be at night, early morning. We nightweaned a while ago though and I don't think I'd even had it at night for a good 6 mo or more.

It takes a while
For milk to fully dry up, but it does slowly change especially as baby takes less.

Milk may also change with anti bodies; who knows what nature is doing! I think i read that as they get older it's less in volume but more concentrated in anti bodies. It might be the situation that your body is making baby stay for longer to get antibodies etc.

Make sure you are drinking lots and lots. I get low supply around my period and taking magnesium supplements help with this.

Your bm will be higher in antibodies so will be not be as high in fat.

My supply dropped with Covid. My DS is a bit older though (18m) and has reduced feeding over the last 6months anyway. I don't really feel let down anymore and he's definitely still getting milk. I do now take a good multivitamin, zinc and b6 though. Drink lots and eat well, and feed as much as you/he wants though and it should return/increase.

Iron deficiency ? As it's used to make antibodies

Being ill with any illness can cause a drop in supply or what feels like a drop on supply, maybe take a look here for reassurance? www.laleche.org.uk/when-a-mother-is-ill/

Personally like some above I have been bf for many years and cannot rmemebr what a letdown is even like. But it sounds like this may just be to do with being ill.

I hope you can rest and feel better soon.
