Dd tested positive at the beginning of the month then developed symptoms after her isolation ended. GP said to isolate and retest. The test was posted last week and the result isn't back. I've chased with 119 and got cut off after an hour on hold. A friend also had her repeat PCR after a positive lost and never heard back. Is this a thing if you've had a recent positive?

When she tested positive did she have symptoms? Or did they start later?

123ZYX · 19/10/2021 13:03

Have you registered the test after it was taken?

FlatteredFool · 19/10/2021 13:04

Vague. So vague that I wouldn't have tested her if her brother and I hadn't have needed tests. Her proper cough started after the isolation ended. Croaky voice and sore throat. She'd been back at school a couple of days.

Did you register the barcode online, my son didn’t and therefore didn’t get result back, so had to phone up and as soon as he entered the barcode from the packaging his result came through immediately.

We were told not to retest for 90 days after our positives as they could still read positive. If she'd already tested positive why was the GP saying retest?!

FlatteredFool · 19/10/2021 13:21

Because she had new symptoms.

Glad you sorted it out op.
Sorry its postive. Get better soon.
That is a long wait ours was within 24hours was impressed.

Interested to hear what test and trace say as regards to isolation dates. Hope she gets better soon.

FlatteredFool · 20/10/2021 10:11

She's to isolate from when she first had the new symptoms. He said he'd known quite a few where this had happened and it's not always a case of still showing positive after the initial infection but still carrying enough virus to test positive or being reinfected.
