False positive lateral flow after eating/drinking anyone?

I tested all of us on Saturday, all negative except mine which had a clear line. I’d been wfh all week so was very surprised as the dc’s tests were negative that I could have it. Did a pcr which turned out negative.

Thinking back I had a lemsip when I woke up that morning & have just read on another thread how drinking orange juice can cause a false positive.
I’m guessing this is what made mine show a line although I used the new nose only type test so its not like the sample was from my throat which would have had the remains of the lemsip on it!

Anyway I won’t be doing that again & will be more careful about us all not eating/drinking before testing. Just wondered if anyone else thinks they might have had a false positive due to eating or drinking something?

The tests say not to eat or drink 30 mins before. If you had a lemsip though I'm assuming you're not feeling well?

Just take one again without any food or drink?

@shouldistop i was achey that morning but I have arthritis so that does happen sometimes in the morning and I find a lemsip helps to ease it.

Just go with the pcr result then, I think that's what official advice is.
Sympathies, I have arthritis in my ankle and tend to hobble about in the morning until I've had a hot shower.

Thanks @shouldistop it’s been terrible the past couple of weeks, waking up with it all over🙁

It's the change in weather. I find hot water the best thing for it.

Littlemiss74 · 19/10/2021 10:57

@shouldistop i thought it must be the weather, I’ve been feeling good for a while so it’s annoying. Do you find you feel better as the day goes on? For me the worst part is when I first wake up, so hard when have to be in the office, was much easier when wfh last winter!

Yes, it's much worse in the morning and worst on a winter morning.
