Can he travel?

A friend is meant to be travelling to Ireland, and have had the necessary PCR tests today, results due tomorrow.
His child did a LFT which has come back positive, they have been in close contact due to travelling for the PCR test. They don’t live in the same household.
If the child’s PCR test is positive, will that preclude the adult from travelling also? The adult is double jabbed.

He doesn't need a pcr at all for Ireland if double jabbed

(Assuming he is travelling from within the CTA)

The PCR tests were for the children, sorry, it wasn’t clear when I read it back.
It’s not a holiday, so I’d he can travel he still needs to go without the child, it’s just whether he can travel knowing he’s been in close contact with a positive case
