Covid and doctors certificates.

I am on day 13 of suffering with Covid. My first day back at work should have been today. But I have been that poorly that I was unable to return today and not sure if I will make it this week.
My employer asked me for a doctors certificate today so I contacting them and was told it isn't necessary. My surgery has told me that the first 10 days don't count because they are isolation and this week is self certification. It's only if I need time off beyond this week that the doctors will give me a certificate. Does this sound about right? I've let my employer know and they are going to contact the Trust about it (I work in education). But just wandering who is right in this situation. I don't want to end up going back and forth between work and the surgery when I'm already feeling so rubbish. Does anyone have any experience of having to take longer off and what was the outcome? Thankyou.

I challenged the 10 days self certification and my GP gave me a further 2 weeks note from the 10th day of my isolation. Today is day 15. Don't feel the best however I need to get myself back to work which I have been told I can do at any time during being signed off. And thank god. I dont get paid whilst off so I wouldn't have been able to have another two weeks off even if I felt like I needed it. Im just going to take things easy.

Hope you feel better soon

Day 10 and 13 were the worst for me. Horrible! Today is day 15 and I've ended up in A&E with chest pain and low oxygen so it's a long slow road I'm guessing. But what I feel now is normal I've been told

Hope you feel better soon.
Think some assume people magically better after 10days.
