Still no 3rd jab CV

Greenhand · 18/10/2021 16:12

Am I the only one who is still waiting for the third jab - NOT the booster. The jab for those of us on the list where jabs 1 and 2 might not have worked?

My GP said today that they might not bother with them in our area. I am so fed up. I had considered going to a drop in site and pretending to be someone else I know who hasn't been vaccinated... not a good idea of course.

Cases are sky high here. I know I'm going to catch it but it would be helpful to have had some protection.

Here is the first letter hunch sets out the scheme

www.gov.uk/government/publications/third-primary-covid-19-vaccine-dose-for-people-who-are-immunosuppressed-jcvi-advice/joint-committee-on-vaccination-and-immunisation-jcvi-advice-on-third-primary-dose-vaccination

There has also been a second letter, as everywhere seemed to miss the first deadline, giving a new deadline of 11/10

Areas can't just decide they're not doing it

As your GP isn't helping, beer on to your hospital consultant.

If no joy there either, then get in tough with your CCG. Various charities for those with conditions that have been much affected by the shambolic administration of this (such as Blood Cancer UK or the Kidney Association) even have pro forma letters for this, such has been the number of people needing them. You couid see if you can find one on their websites, or ring for advice.

Greenhand · 18/10/2021 18:56

Thank you. Spoke to my CCG and they can't help either. I know I am on the GP's list but it's all a mystery

I am ECV and still waiting - GP said phone 119, 119 said not eligible - keep checking online, GP say 119 talking rubbish tell them to book. No one can give me a straight answer or a vaccine date. I tested positive today and the nurse at the GP said 'just deal with it' and specialist team (specialist unit is 2 hours away) had a moment's panic, sent pulse oximeter, steroids and nebuliser and open access to local resp ward if my o2 levels drop below 93. They are shocked at the ineptitude of our area's vaccine plan.

TinaWeymouthsBass · 18/10/2021 19:49

My CEV dh rang his GP this morning as he hadn't heard about his 3rd jab and they told him to ring one of the local hospitals as they are the only places doing 3rd vaccinations as opposed to boosters. He rang and they booked him in for this Wednesday!

Greenhand · 18/10/2021 21:33

@GherkinsOnToast I hope you're ok. The specialist team at least have a plan for you. Thinking of you and fingers crossed it passes without much nastiness,
My Gp actually suggested I give false details at a vaccine centre!

mynameiscalypso · 18/10/2021 21:37

I should be eligible but haven't heard anything. I'm trying to summon up the will to ring my GP. They didn't have me on their original list as CV because my medication and treatment is all private so I'm not massively surprised that I've keen missed out again.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 18/10/2021 22:04

@mynameiscalypso not everyone who is CEV is eligible for a 3rd dose it is specifically for a selected group who are immuno compromised, apologies if you do fall into this category, however many people have confused CEV with being immune compromised.
If you are immuno suppressed then an email or letter from your private consultant should be sufficient enough for your local CCG to book you in for the 3rd dose assuming you are more than 8 weeks post 2nd dose.

Greenhand · 18/10/2021 22:11

I understand. I’m absolutely immune on promises by virtue of being on a specific drug mentioned by jcvi in their list.

I wasn't CEV but I am on one of the immunosuppressants drugs that require a third dose. They've made it incredibly confusing haven't they? I am recorded as being on immunosuppressants on my NHS record but that doesn't seem to have translated into anything much. I will try and speak to my consultant if no joy though. I think I need to change my meds in any event so that will no doubt complicate things even further!

Treaclespongeandcustard · 18/10/2021 22:57

I am CEV and my consultant suggested that I turn up at a vaccination centre with my letter. He said there was a delay with the 3rd dose system update. I did as advised and after waiting for the nurse at the vaccine centre to check my eligibility letter, she added me to their system and I had my jab.

Before that, both 119 and the GP each refused to sort it, 119 said I wasn’t eligible and GP said they didn’t have vaccine stock.

Hope you manage to get sorted, it’s very stressful Flowers

LittleG69 · 19/10/2021 09:15

Have you got anything to say you are immunosuppressed?

I'm only asking because I went to get mine last week (I think I was just lucky as I had a consultant's appointment and she did me a letter there and then saying I was eligible) and another lady arrived and said she was immunosuppressed and they asked her for proof and she showed them something on her phone and they processed her there and then.

It's an absolute shit show @Greenhand and I hope you can get sorted

Greenhand · 19/10/2021 11:20

I don't have a letter because my CCG is not doing them. They do things by text and have admitted they are months behind at the moment....

The GP, hospital and 119 all blame each other and won't help. All I can do to prove I am immunosuppressed is take my drugs *on the list specified by JCVI to the vaccination centre - or possibly I have a consultants letter prescribing them.
But I was told it has to be a pfizer jab and how would I know that was what I was going to get?

If you follow either #ABANDONEDshielders or Blood Cancer UK on twitter there's been a tweet this evening saying the charity is hearing from journalists want to speak to people who haven't yet been invited for their third primary. And skiing people to DM if they'd be interested in sharing their story

Thatsveryniceofyou · 19/10/2021 21:52

Hi, so I've still heard nothing on my third jab. My hospital team have written to my GP but my GP said they can't help as vaccinations are nothing to do with them anymore. In the end I spoke to my hospital consultant who said the actual vaccine is the same whether booster or third jab (kidney association also said the same) so book for your booster if you're elegible. Apparently it doesn't matter as either way the NHS records it as a booster because their systems don't allow them to record it as a third jab. And then fight for the booster again in six months when the system shouldn't be so confused etc

Upsky · 19/10/2021 22:08

I got a text and letter about 3rd jab this week. Messaged GP on NHS app and I'm booked in for 3rd dose next week. They said they will call me in fir booster in 6 months.
However I notice in the letter it mentions boosters. Says if you've already had booster that can be treated as 3rd dose. (The 3rd dose and booster are both pfizer).
So OP could you book a booster online and hope it's sorted out in 6 months?

3asAbird · 20/10/2021 03:41

There a delay in boosters due to not enough vaccines centres.

Thus is a thread about third jab for the 500,000 most immune compromised people in the U.K.

They should have been receiving them from 11/09 onwards before boosters were even announced (directive issued 2/09) with second deadline 11/10 for everyone to have been offered.

Shortages of Pfizer/Moderna happening now, six weeks on from when the programme started, really shouldn't be an issue (because these jabs should have been done) or there needs to be significant prioritisation right now to get third primaries done (considerably higher priority than boosters)

Thus happened to my household member - the language was boosters/third jab - utterly confusing for those who know they need third primary and are concerned that they have been correctly identified in the records.

But apparently less confusing for everyone else, so they just have to suck it up and hope the admin is indeed correct as there was nothing to see on the day which shows it was.

Greenhand · 20/10/2021 09:05

I can't book a booster either as I have a couple of months to wait as I was missed off the list originally
