Which days does it really kick in?

We all have Covid, very early days. I know it's different for everyone but can I ask people to rely individually when it started to get back for them and if they have any underlying etc?

I am worried about us all individually but especially the asthmatic. All good so far and we are hoping for the best but being mindful for the worst.

I am going to keep a diary to help others.

Also can I ask what, if anything, helped medication or otherwise?

only my DH got it - mild cold-like symptoms on days 2-3 (he got a positive LFT while asymptomatic) and that was it. he's a 40+ black man with asthma but was mainly just bored... friend and her whole family got it, her symptoms prompted testing. the two teenage kids had mild symptoms, 9yo nothing really but her and her DH both had bad flu-like symptoms and were both off work for full two weeks. she has some underlying (well controlled) health symptoms, he has none at all.

My dp had cold symptoms for 2 days and then was flu like in bed for a few days. Never really kicked in at all for me or ds. Neither of us felt unwell really! I had a minor cold and loss of smell for a few days. Was able to continue around the house as usual.

I’m on day 8 now. Day 1 was a very minor cold, just runny nose. Day 2 I was very tired and spent most of the day in bed. Was sneezing a lot and had sinus pain. Day 3-4 heavy cold but functional. Could look after the 2 year old and potter about the house. Days 5-7 just tiredness but I’ve not been sleeping well and so I think that caused it.

My lateral flows have been negative for 3 days now so I’m hoping that means the worst of it is done.

DS age 12.

Day 1 - Positive LFT, no symptoms.
Day 2 - Took PCR test, positive LFT, no symptoms.
Day 3 - High fever (39+), body aches, blocked nose, headache, very tired.
Day 4 - Positive PCR, high fever, body aches, blocked nose, headache, very tired.
Day 5 - Mild fever (38), vomiting, headache, blocked nose, tiredness.
Day 6 - Mild fever (38), blocked nose, bit less tired.
Day 7 - Mild fever, phlegmy cough, blocked nose.
TBC...

I'm hoping he's on the mend, although every day seems to bring something new! No one else in the house as caught it from him yet - daily negative LFTs and PCRs pending.

Me

Day 1 - possible slight loss of taste. + LFT
Day 2 - slightly coldy, very runny nose, no taste by end of day.
Day 3 - fever & chills overnight, headache, bit of a cough. Generally feeling a bit rubbish but still well enough to get up, dressed & complain I felt ill!
Day 4 - like day 3 but not as bad - up & doing stuff.
Day 5 - (today) nauseous but overall feeling better. Still no taste. Still runny nose. Fine to be working from home & looking after DC ie would be at work if it wasn’t Covid.

Taking regular paracetamol definitely seems to help.

The dc are on day 8 & day 5 respectively and have absolutely nothing wrong with them - they’ve basically been asymptomatic throughout. One has the occasional headache which goes away with calpol.

Me -
Days 1 + 2 no symptoms (did a PCR as a colleague who sits close to me tested positive)
End of day 3 - started to lose sense of smell and taste and started sneezing
Day 4 - sneezing, snotty nose, complete loss of smell and taste, temperature of 38.3
Day 4 - temperature went down but still higher than average
Day 5 - temperature back to normal, still snotty and sneezing
Started going back to normal and was fine by day 8, apart from my smell and taste which took a month to return.

Dd - cold symptoms for about 4 days

DH - sore throat, severe headaches, chest pain. Worst around day 3-8. Still suffering now on day 17, but milder

Me - chest pain, sore throat - worst on day 3-7. Day 17 now and still very tired, have air-brain & taste/smell very off

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 18/10/2021 13:46

Ds no symptoms at all. Now on day 9.

LondonJax · 18/10/2021 13:52

DS barely any symptoms and now on day 9.

Me, flu like symptoms (achy) for a day then nothing, then LFT positive, achiness back, PCR positive, runny nose, slight achiness, taste and smell gone. That's all. Day 8 now. If i hadn't had a LFT as a general work thing I'd have ignored the achiness as it was so slight. I have had a slight cough at night but if I lay on my tummy (NHS prone position) for 10 minutes or so I can go back to sleep in any position with no coughing at all for the rest of the night. Great tip from very early on in first lockdown!

DH is on day 5. Same achiness, slight cough. That's it.

Me and DH

Day 1 - shivers, sweats, sensitive to light
Day 2 - shivers, runny nose, sensitive to light
Day 3 - clammy, headache, sensitive to light
Day 4 - full of the cold, very sensitive to light (stayed in bed in dark) sneezing, dry cough (positive LFT)
Day 5 - full of the cold, headaches same as above (positive PCR)
Day 6 (today) same as above for me and DH has had his first positive LFR since we first tested on Saturday.
