Do I test?

My 4 year old has had croup, only overnight and she’s well in herself. Her nursery have today announced that a staff member is positive and children should not attend with any symptoms. So do I need to get a pcr for her croup so that she can still go? Or is croup not the persistent cough that counts as a symptom. Her LFT was negative fwiw.

A child with croup will feel unwell so I would keep her home on that basis alone. Nothing to do with covid.

Current guidelines are that anyone who has been in close contact with a covid positive person should get a PCR test done, not legally, but advice, but would have thought they would need a negative test to return to nursery.

No

No to the test

But absolutely keep her off!!! Croup is not pleasant and exhausting for the child with the racking cough. Please don’t and shocked you’re considering

tabulahrasa · 18/10/2021 08:14

Well she can’t go in with croup anyway...

She doesn’t go on Mondays anyway so is at home today but if she needs a test I’ll need to get it today.
