Randox day 2 tests

Frederica852 · 17/10/2021 20:41

I've travelled abroad 5 or so times during the pandemic and used various test providers. During October I've travelled twice in quick succession and used Randox both times. I was a bit worried because the day 2 test result from the first trip didn't come back in time before I departed on my second trip and I was worried if the result came back whilst I was abroad and was positive I wouldn't know what to do. Anyway as it turned out I never got the test back at all. Have now done another day 2 test following the second October trip and no sign of the result from that either.

Anybody else had problems with randox?

Nope, Randox was all fine for me. Did you register the tests when they arrived? Also, don't worry about it. As far as I can tell there was no need to actually do the Day 2 tests, you just needed a reference number for the form. What a scam the whole thing was.

MagpieMary · 17/10/2021 20:46

I have ordered them do when I return from abroad . I did t know you have to register them. How do you do that?

Cookerhood · 17/10/2021 20:47

It tells you how on the website & with the kit.

CrumbsThatsQuick · 17/10/2021 20:48

Instructions will be in the box.

MagpieMary · 17/10/2021 20:57

I haven’t opened the box. Am waiting to return from holiday.

CrumbsThatsQuick · 17/10/2021 20:59

You'll be fine, you only have to register the test once you have done it... when you are back Smile

Frederica852 · 17/10/2021 21:15

Yup registered both of them. It's a mystery!

You could probably call their call centre and ask. I travelled abroad 5 times during the pandemic and used randox tests each time. Results were always on the next day.

Mindymomo · 18/10/2021 07:12

They had lots of problems with overfilling drop off points to not being collected and at one time it was suggested on tv not to use them as service was so bad, but they are on the approved list, so hopefully their service will improve.

MagpieMary · 20/10/2021 07:02

Last night I drove around for an hour trying to find a drop off point that the travel agent had told me about. I was so tired from a late night flight I nearly had an accident twice. The test itself took ages and was such a bloody faff. I couldn’t find the drop off point. I wish I’d just gone to a test centre. I found their website difficult to navigate but think we have identified another drop off point somewhere entirely different and not that close to us. I’m not travelling abroad again until these restrictions are lifted.
I don’t think anyone checks you’ve even taken these tests or follows them up anyway!!

Oblomov21 · 20/10/2021 07:06

Used Randox twice recently, easy, dropped off, got result. Used code to fill out psssenger locator form easily. No problem. I looked up where the drop of box was before ordering. Why pp was driving around not knowing where it was is not sensible.

thirstyformore · 20/10/2021 07:16

@Oblomov21 when we used randox for a pcr test with drop off it was very unclear where the drop off was. We walked around for ages trying to find it. It was actually inside a hotel, but the website didn't say that.

MagpieMary · 20/10/2021 07:17

I looked up my area and got a dot that did not give any address. The helpline just had a recorded message referring to their website. So I phoned a travel agent that had originally recommended the test to me. They told me the location of the drop off point, but I couldn’t find it. I found registering the kit a long and stressful experience. I am very tired though.

Cookerhood · 20/10/2021 07:17

Randox have a map where you click on the location of the Dropbox & it tells you all about it. eg "behind the library, open until 3pm" etc etc

MagpieMary · 20/10/2021 07:24

I tried clicking on the dot but nothing happened. I’m feeling like a moron now. I’ll give it another go. Do you just click on the dot on the map?

WeAreTheHeroes · 20/10/2021 07:24

@MagpieMary - I have to disagree with you about the test taking ages and being "such a faff": what the hell were you doing?

Registering it, which you're told to do after taking the test takes a few minutes and I found the website wasn't optimised for my phone properly so registered using a laptop.

The drop off in a chemist's was over flowing but it did get picked up same day and I had the result at 5.30am the next morning.

Oblomov21 · 20/10/2021 07:30

I researched thoroughly before buying. I appreciate some drop off boxes on the website may not have a picture, a address and postcode and a description: in hotel, only available 9-3pm. But if that was the case I wouldn't have ordered from them.

Registering your test should be very very simple. Took us less than a few minutes.

MagpieMary · 20/10/2021 08:13

You need to put in your passport details, all the times you left, arrived, what you were doing before and after, the number for the test, flight number, when it arrived and when it took off, it virtually asks for your life history. My husband and I did it together and it took over an hour.

WeAreTheHeroes · 20/10/2021 10:11

That's not the test though is it, it's the registration? Even then, it's not that complicated and you'll have needed to provide virtually the same info for your plf to return to the UK.

Oblomov21 · 20/10/2021 11:13

All that info I had ready, because I'd just done the uk passenger locator form to come home. That took me about 3 minutes to fill out.

Then doing my Randox test and registering it took about 3 minutes aswell.

How come it took you an hour?

Oblomov21 · 20/10/2021 11:14

I went on holiday to Portugal with 2 friends.
I managed to do all 3 of them within 15 minutes, max.

WeAreTheHeroes · 20/10/2021 11:26

I was rushing and trying to complete the registration on my phone, had to give up and do it on my laptop. Even then it must have taken less than 5 minutes in total. I do understand that if you are not tech savvy these things are not intuitive or particularly straightforward, but my mid 70s mum managed okay for two of them and made no mention of it taking ages (she would have done if it had). The dropbox for Randox was what swung it for me as there's one close by and it meant I didn't have to pay to send it off for analysis.

MagpieMary · 20/10/2021 11:28

That included doing the tests too. I had thrown away the paperwork so had to trawl through my emails. It’s sent off now anyway.
Frederica852 · 25/10/2021 08:51

Finally had my day 2 test result - on day 17! 😂
