My DS (14) has just informed me his girlfriend has tested positive for Covid. He was with her all day Friday.

How long would it take for him to test positive or show symptoms if he has caught it?

The average incubation period is 5/6 days but it can be as little as 24 hours, up to 14 days. There have been a few cases longer than 14 days.

My 15 year old de caught it from her boyfriend - she saw him Sunday, he got positive lft Monday and she did by Tuesday. Meanwhile took us about 4/5 days to test positive after catching it from her but we weren’t in as much close contact as she was with the boyfriend 🙈

My husband had mild symptoms last Saturday, he had a positive lft on Sunday morning and went for a pcr test on Sunday afternoon which came back as positive on Monday morning. I tested negative on an lft on Sunday, also tested negative on a pcr on Monday, and negative lft again on Tuesday. I had a headache on Wednesday, tested positive on lft on Thursday. Did postal pcr on Thursday too but results didn’t come back until Saturday (positive). DD9 has remained negative on both lft and pcr throughout so far and has no symptoms a week on.

So far negative on LFTs. The gf has now had a positive PCR so I guess it's just a waiting game to see if he gets it. If he doesn't he's been lucky!!
