Positive pcr 13/10 then negative pcr 16/10. How?

Got tested with DD (asd) to show her how easy it was to do the test. She had symptoms, I didn't. Her pcr came back negative and mine positive, absolutely no way I mixed them up as I was meticulous when handing back.

Anyhow, I ordered more LFT's for the rest of the house and was sent a pcr as part of a study. I did the test, DH posted back and results came back negative! How is it possible to go from positive to negative with 3/4 days. For info all my LFT's have been negative and so was the test I had on 1/10 as a close contact.

Obvs goes without saying I'll complete the isolation period of positive test!

Could be all manner of things

Could you have have Covid asymptomatically a while ago and still showing positive of first test?

False negative second test?

Poor execution of second test.

Cross contamination in lab on first test.

Viral load dropped quickly so negative second test - are you vaccinated?

You will never know the actual reason but good that you are isolating.

Have you been offered an antibody test?
