Thoughts on sunbeds if fully vaccinated?

It's nothing to do with vanity, it's severe psoriasis on my body. Sunbeds have always helped in the past but now I feel apprehensive.

Do you think they're safe?

FYI I'm double vaccinated

Yes they're safe. They're wiped down after every use. Is it covid you're worried about catching, or the dangers of a sunbed? Just go for it...sunbeds within reason are very good for psoriasis.

Thank you. Definitely not scared of sunbeds have used them previously for my psoriasis. To be honest I'm not sure what I'm scared of as I feel it's inevitable covid may touch me at some point. I suppose it may just be because life had changed for so long.

Thanks for replying. You've helped

Covid vaccines won’t stop skin cancer. You do you.

silentpool · 17/10/2021 02:31

I would hesitate because of skin damage/cancer. My friends who used sunbeds when they were younger look much older and regret the damage.

UV light kills covid germs so the risks of covid are minimal. I use sunbeds in moderation and have found it really helps my skin / mood. I never go for long enough to get a deep tan.

Sunbeds are sometimes prescribed for the treatment of Psoriasis, its not a vanity thing. My stepdad goes to one in the hospital. So maybe educate yourself before being rude.

They will be wiped down between use so yes, I would imagine very ‘safe’. Especially, when you consider whilst actually using the sun bed you will be in your own little room.

You are very rude. If you read the OP you will see that the sunbed is used to manage a medical condition.Sunbeds have been used in a controlled manner for a long time to manage psoriasis.

That wasn't the question. I suggest reading the OP.

Sunbeds to manage an existing medical condition are fine, within reason.

Yes you’re right, they are.
But they are done in a very controlled way.

I have had both UVB and UVA light treatment of psoriasis.
Both done at the hospital under strict supervision.

Going on a domestic sunbed is not the same as having controlled UV therapy.

OP are you under a dermatologist? I’ve been under one for years and have always been advised against using sunbeds to control my psoriasis.

This.

Considering we know there is a clear link between sunbeds and skin cancer, I have no idea how they are still allowed and how any one can own or operate them.
