Am I still contagious

I tested positive for covid and am currently on day 12. My Gp told me I needed to isolate for 3 days extra after the governments 10 days and I've been signed off after.
My son desperately needs his hair cut as it's school photos this weeks. He will be going to school on Monday.
I still feel horrible. Every single joint and part of my body is hurting still. Am I still contagious? A family member has offered to help but has said she doesn't want to catch anything

I wouldn't prioritise a child's haircut for school photo.
If you still have symptoms you are potentially still contagious.
I hope you feel better soon.

For what it's worth, Contact Tracing rang me today (again...) and reminded me of the date I can leave isolation, and that I can do so as long as I'm not feverish or have upset stomach/vomiting. Having a cough or feeling very tired/achey wasn't something I had to continue isolating for, I was told, since these things can last for several weeks Sad

I hadn't heard this before (but then haven't had Covid before). She said if I was still feverish or being sick/diarrhoea then I had to 'seek advice from my HCP' and work out how many further days to isolate for. Confused Seems like there isn't a cut and dried criteria for coming out of isolation.

I have none of those. Its the aching. I spoke to T&T on day 10 and they simply advised me to speak to my GP. It was him that advised me to isolate for a further 72 hours whilst feeling so bad still but if I feel comfortable to do so I am free to leave, not that I have the energy to do so. I have just done am LFT and its negative. Maybe I just feel rough. Doctor did mention possibility of long covid to me but I'm guessing that doesn't mean your contagious

If you still feel ill you should stay in and rest so you get better, regardless of whether or not you are contagious. Is his dad in the picture? Could he not take his son for a haircut?

Needanewadventure2021 · 16/10/2021 00:30

Not for nearly 7 years no.

He has got to go back to school Monday anyway. Its the aching and pains it's horrendous but I was told these could last for a while.

Will just see how I feel over the weekend

What a waste of space his dad must be!

I hope you feel better soon.

That's putting it nicely! Still waiting for him to get his karma but that's another story.

I need to get myself feeling better soon. Im not even expecting 100%, just better and able to do stuff around the house at least. Regardless my son needs to get back to school. I also need to return to work as otherwise I won't be able to cover my bills next month. Its giving me alot of anxiety worrying about money next month. My income is overstretched already on a normally paid month

Yes, the government guidelines say you need to isolate until all symptoms except for loss of taste/smell and cough have gone.
