Coughing blood?

Dd13 has been really poorly since Wednesday. Took a LF test on Thursday evening when she finally woke up and it was positive. Took her for a pcr test today and we are awaiting results.

She’s got a really hacking cough and when she wipes her mouth there’s tiny amounts of blood on the tissue, same when she did the LF tests.

Is this usual? I know there’s google but I’d rather not scare myself.

You need to call 111 straightaway for this.

It's does happen with covid, but didn't panic as it's not necessarily a sign of severity of the disease. But it needs to be assessed by a clinician, and 111 is a first port of call (as you can't just rock up in person with someone positive)

lots33 · 15/10/2021 18:38

Agree, please seek medical advice.

GoldChick · 15/10/2021 18:39

Yes call 111. Don't Google it as you'll only get the extreme examples.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 15/10/2021 18:39

*don't panic

DancingBabyGoat · 15/10/2021 18:49

Thanks. I’ll give them a call now.
I’ve never seen my poor dd so ill 😢

I think quite normal (certainly happened to me w covid) but no harm in seeking medical advice.

SpringRainbow · 16/10/2021 08:52

I would definitely seek medical advice.

Tigerblue · 16/10/2021 08:56

100% seek medical advice. In her case it might not be anything to worry about (infection that needs ABs) and she's young, but my Uncle was admitted to hospital with those symptoms.

MrsPatmoresPinny · 16/10/2021 10:41

How is your DD today @DancingBabyGoat?

DancingBabyGoat · 16/10/2021 18:22

She’s really poorly.

She’s not had any more bleeding from her mouth but she’s had blood when going for a wee.
She’s not started her periods yet but has had massive bleeds from bladder infections so I’m so worried. What a time to start though if it is her period.

Unsurprisingly her pcr was positive.

Take her to A n E now.

FAQs · 16/10/2021 18:25

Did you phone 111?

GoldChick · 16/10/2021 18:34

If she gets worse don't forget you can phone 111 or 999 still. Even if she has got covid they can still help.

Have she been checked over?
Porcupineintherough · 16/10/2021 19:23

Poor lass, it can be a vicious, viciousvirus for sone of us. Please OP speak to 111. They can put you in touch with a gp or send the paramedics out to assess her in person if they feel its necessary (they do that with COVID positive people all the time).

Porcupineintherough · 16/10/2021 19:26

@Turmerictolly far better to speak to 111 (or if urgent call 999) than to spend hours sat in a&e when you are already feeling dreadful. 111 will send someone out to her, or arrange a timed appointment for her at a COVID centre, if necessary.

Tigerblue · 17/10/2021 07:02

Have you spoken to 111. If not, I really would be doing that.

Greybeardy · 17/10/2021 12:48

It sounds like she needs to see a doctor. (DOI: doctor)

Hotpinkangel19 · 17/10/2021 15:37

Definitely get her seen. Not normal.
