My son has covid, confirmed by a pcr at the weekend. My other children and I now have symptoms although not the major 3. We did pcr tests tests earlier in the week which came back negative.
I have been doing lateral flow tests daily and this morning got a faint positive on an older style one where it says to swab both your throat and nose. I read it after the 30 minutes that the instructions said to, it was very faint but there was clearly a second line there. I took another to check and again got a faint second line. I then used one of the newer style ones where you swab both nostrils. This one, however, definitely just had the one control line so was negative.
I have booked an appointment for a pcr test but am wondering if it is that one style of test is more accurate than the other.
