Have covid, feel so scared!

So I tested positive on Saturday, had aches and pains, nausea and a fever, the pains and fever subsided after about the 4th day but then I started to get shortness of breath, my oxygen levels are currently around 96, they were 99 on the first day so I'm terrified that I'm getting worse :( hand hold needed! I'm only 29, didn't think I would have such a bad experience, I don't know if my panicking is making it worse

Try not to worry - I know it’s hard! I’m on day 9 and feel much better but have had slight anxiety that I will get very ill. My oxygen was also 96 and my friend who works in a&e said 96 is what they expect from someone with covid - mine is now back at 99. Sending healing wishes x

You're panicking is almost certainly making it worse.

Give your GP a call!

I'm on day 8 but was feeling really bad on Monday, I'm asthmatic and my cough was getting worse and worse.

Spoke to the GP Tuesday am she sent a prescription through for some steroids and antibiotics and I'm now feeling much better!

They may be able to help.

96% is fine. I have asthma & during a bad period, I sit around that permanently. You do feel short of breathe but it’s nothing too concerning. I just take it veryyy easy.

I’ve currently got covid, have felt pretty unwell. I’m 33. Oxygen levels are 97% on average but it fluctuates through day. I’m not all anxious, it probably helps.

Just keep calm - are you vaccinated? Even if you aren’t, you are young & very unlikely to become seriously ill. It’s just a nasty little virus that you need to give your body time to fight off. Rest, take your mind off it. Eat good foods. If genuinely concerned, speak to 111 or your GP.

Thank you guys for all the reassurance, I think when I sit and think about it my anxiety just makes it worse, I've taken some pain killers now so hopefully once they kick in they'll help the chest pain.

96% is absolutely fine. When I was admitted to hospital my oxygen was 86% and on CPAP my target was 94% so you have nothing to worry about. Wishing you better

Thank you for the reassurance. How long were you in hospital for? Glad you're better now x
