Has anyone had a symptomatic covid then developed symptoms after the isolation ends?

Dd tested positive last week after the mildest of symptoms. If her brother and I hadn't been ill I wouldn't have even tested her. Just a blocked nose, very occasional cough and nausea. All very mild and would have gone to school pre-covid times. She's been back at school since her isolation ended 2 days ago but now has a proper cough, sore throat and feels sick and actually feels unwell whereas she didn't before. Has anyone else or their dc experienced this?

Anyone? I've reread the guidance but I'm confused as to if she needs to isolate again.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe if you have done your isolation and then gone onto develop new symptoms after the isolation period then you need to go for a pcr test again. I looked online a couple of weeks ago and it say that test shouldn't be done within 90days of positive unless you develop new symptoms. Maybe you could ring 111 for a confirmation on what to do, have you done a recent LFT test on her?

FlatteredFool · 14/10/2021 11:14

The 90 day thing is what's confused me most. I can do another LFT on her today and see what the result is.

Had similar with one if my kids. Was told not to retest for 90 days and to isolate again til symptoms ended.

Call the 119 number for advice. She may need a pcr test.

FlatteredFool · 14/10/2021 12:48

119 said get medical advice. GP surgery said phone 119. 119 cut me off after going round the multiple choice options, so I've ordered a test online. LFT is negative.

How is your DD now? My child has a sore throat post isolation despite being almost totally asymptomatic before. No fever, no cough, but a little headache too. Now I'm starting to worry again!

FlatteredFool · 17/10/2021 15:05

Her cough is dreadful now yet she had the barest hint of a cough when she tested positive. The Gp said to do another PCR and isolate until the results are back. They should be back by now but aren't. If positive then I'll see what t&t have to say about things as I know a PCR is likely to still be positive after recent infection.

I hope your dc gets better soon.

Oh bless her, that's so frustrating. My DC feels wiped and sore throat but no cough, temp, etc. I might do another lat flow though just to see where we are, then call 119. Hope your DD feels better quickly too!

exLtEveDallas · 17/10/2021 15:54

She may have picked up the ‘super cold’ that is going round because her defences are so low post-Covid. Lots of people have it and most are feeling worse than when they had Covid!

FlatteredFool · 17/10/2021 15:56

@exLtEveDallas tell me about it! I'm on 14 days of steroids, double dose antibiotics and inhalers and dread getting covid on top. Ds is on week 5 of snot and cough now and random sore throat.

I think that might be it. My DC definitely seems more lethargic than when they had covid! Hopefully it is short lived though and we'll see improvement soon.

FlatteredFool · 19/10/2021 15:02

Her test has come back positive today but I've been told that is likely anyway within 90 days of a positive. I'm waiting to see what test and trace say when they ring. She's had more symptoms and more pronounced since the end of her isolation.

Sorry its postive.
Unfortunately covid symptoms can sometimes continue for weeks even after isolation.
