Long term taste/smell problems?

My ( adult ) DD had Covid in May and although made a good recovery still has ongoing taste and smell problems. Some of her favourite foods ( passion fruit, pineapple, chicken- and many others ) taste rancid. She has always found great joy in food so a little sad to her - and wonders if this may be long term or permanent? 6 months now since her illness.
Any others - or words of hope?

Had Covid in Jan and was quite ill with it. Off work for six weeks. Sense of smell came back after a while but things still tasted bland right up until the summer. It was weird when it came back as it was almost too much for a while but has all settled now. Hope your DD recovers soon.

I had it March 2020, initially lost sense of taste and smell completely, then got it back but muted, then it became distorted.

It's still distorted with gaps where some scents and tastes were and some enhanced, especially smoke.

It's very slowly getting better, but I suspect it won't ever get fully back to where it was. I used to have a very sensitive sense of taste and smell.

It's a bit heart breaking tbh, but there's not much you can do.
