Pinged on the app - when would you get a PCR

Despite having the covid app since it came out, I've not had a notification before.
I got one this morning to say I had been in close contact with a positive case yesterday.
Yesterday I commuted to work, went to pret, got train home. I went out twice to take DD to an after school activity in the car (I didn't get out of the car) so I'm thinking it must gave been someone on the train on either of the journeys.
The app suggests getting a pcr but I've read that they're not accurate if you do too early? When would you get a pcr test?
Also meant to be seeing IL at the weekend but unsure whether that is a good idea.

I'm amazed anyone has the app anymore. Just delete it.

Do an lft if you haven't got symptoms, definitely before meeting anyone -but still get a confirmatory PCR.

Your workplace should have a policy to follow depending on any risks they've assessed.

Lol. I did joke that I must have sat next to the only other person who still uses the app!!

It won't have been from yesterday. They would have been somewhere (the same place you were) then felt ill, then booked a test, then had a test, then had the results, then entered them into the app, all in a few hours.

Lazypuppy · 13/10/2021 13:45

I wouldn't get one. I would also delete the app.

namechanging564 · 13/10/2021 13:49

I didn't know the app was still around! Delete!

I did first think this but then thought if they got one because they were a close contact (and not required to isolate) they could have had a test earlier in the day, been on the train from work in the afternoon, and got a result this morning?

I also wouldn’t take much notice of it
Just be aware and looking out for symptoms
Maybe do lfts

People I have known recently that have got it have developed it about 4-5 days after exposure so if you were going to get a pcr I would do it around then.

@antsinyourpanta - there's place in the app I settings where you can see when it happened isn't there?

antsinyourpanta · 13/10/2021 14:06

It says encounter date 12th October (yesterday)

I didn't know the app was still a thing either. Wasn't it pretty much proved not fit for purpose?
