Travel - do we need tests?

Sorry, I know I should be able to find this myself but I am actually quite confused.

I'm not in the UK but my parents are. They are planning on going to Portugal next week. They have both been vaccinated and have tried to get themselves set up on the Covid Pass but mum's only shows one vaccination (and the wrong date) and dad has had nothing through. I've tried to help but I'm not there and its hard to do when I can't see whats happening with what they are trying to do.

My suggestion is to just get tested. So I can arrange a PCR travel test no problem for going but do they need to get a test in Portual and if so does it need to be booked before they go? Its not very clear.

The UK Covid pass is not valid for Portugal. They need a LFT (within 48h) or PCR (72 h) in the UK before they go and they will need to show their negative test certificate from the provider at check in. They can’t use the NHS tests - they must use a paid-for test.

The hotel will also most likely want to see the test result too.
