Exercise after covid

On day 7 of what I consider mild covid - slight cough, cold symptoms, chest feels slightly tight occasionally but nothing too bad.

I usually train 4 days a week (gym/powerlifting) haven’t trained the whole time to give myself chance to recover and haven’t really felt up to it anyway (have gym at home).

When did you return to the gym after covid - did it set you back? Worried it’s going to make me feel awful when I do return but missing it so much!

I’m on day 7 too @Peanut0583 and am feeling much better but was wondering the same thing. I’m still isolating until Saturday actually so can’t really do anything before then. I usually train at the gym 3/week a mix of cardio and weights.
I don’t want to do too much too soon but equally I can feel myself getting weaker by the day and I’ve worked so hard for the muscle I’ve got I don’t want to lose it!

@ ladyandthechocolate yes I totally get you! My coach said a few weeks off won’t make any difference and will just have to start off at lower intensity and build back up but same as you I feel so weak!

I’m hoping by Monday (that will be 2 weeks) I might give it a go and hope for the best 🤞

Try a bit of walking first and see how tired you are the next day. And then if you’re ok try a really short session.

I struggled to exercise for a long time after Covid but think I'm probably in the minority. Try a quick walk with hills then see how you feel the next day. Take it up slowly day by day and see how you feel.

From what I've heard on running groups, test the ground very gently and build up. Hopefully that should be quite quick but reduces the risk of set-backs.

One friend I had struggled a week or two after Covid and it turned out to be a water infection.

A regular cold can knock me for a week or two after I think I'm recovered.
