Have any of your 12-15 year olds had the jab and if so can I ask their age and any side-effects?
My ds is 12 and I've consented to him having it tomorrow and I'm a little stressed and worrying.
Thank you.

My ds is 15 and had it. Slight sore arm for a day or so but no other side effects

Whataboutme21 · 10/10/2021 17:01

My dc had it on Wednesday. Dc 12 had sore arm for couple of days. Dc 15 had covid in august and said they felt the same as then, dizzy and just a bit rubbish, but this only lasted a day and they were still able to go to school.

Ds (12) had his just under 2 weeks ago. He had a really sore arm for about 24 hours, otherwise felt fine. He managed school the next day with no problems, and was a bit more tired than usual at the weekend (a couple of days after the vaccination).

If it helps to reassure as well, ds was left with some heart issues after covid. His doctor recommended the vaccine, and ds said he actually felt back to pre-covid levels of “better” after the vaccine, which I really didn’t expect but is fantastic for him.

I did make sure as well that for the week after the vaccine he didn’t do any heavy exercise and got plenty of rest. That’s being recommended at the moment but it’s not widely known.

Good luck for your ds, I hope it all goes really well for him. Flowers

Slight sore arm, day after a mild stomach ache and headache. Felt all better after 2 days.

Echobelly · 10/10/2021 18:22

Ah thanks - was going to ask about side effects for 12-15yos, as oldest (13) is having jab tomorrow and I'm not worried but I'm interest to find out what side effects have been like for that age group - sounds like no different than for adults then!

I had pfizer and a sore arm for 24 hours and I think I would have been fine, only I did rather too much a few days later (walking most of a day) and then felt a bit knocked out for a few days after that, which I think was down to the vaccine. Hardly anything after second, but obviously kids aren't having that.

Dd (12) had this week. Sore arm for a couple of days and felt a little bit under the weather later the same day, but fine within 48 hours. Had flu spray at same time.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 10/10/2021 18:25

My 14 year old didn't even have a sore arm.

Popfan · 10/10/2021 20:36

My 13 year old has his on 12th and is already angling for a day off the following day Grin I'm sure he'll be fine!!

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 10/10/2021 20:45

My 15 year old daughter had it 2 weeks ago and no side effects except a bit of sore arm.
My 12 years old will be having it soon.
She had Pfizer

MajorCarolDanvers · 10/10/2021 20:45

Mine (13) had it about 2 weeks ago. Slightly sore arm for 2 days. That was it.

mejon · 10/10/2021 20:47

15yo DD1 had her's on Friday evening. Developed a bit of a sore arm before bed and it was a bit achy yesterday but only when she lifted her arm up high. Absolutely fine by today.

I had my booster a week yesterday and all I got was an achy arm - again only when lifting it high for approximately 48 hours or so.

soapboxqueen · 10/10/2021 20:53

My ds (12) had his about a month ago. No side effects what's so ever.

LizzieBet14 · 10/10/2021 20:58

My DS is 14 and had no side effects at all - he has a very slight build & picks up colds easily so was expecting something but was ok.

Cantstopthewaves · 10/10/2021 21:00

Thanks everyone. I know everyone is different but your posts have settled my catastrophising mind.
@BewareTheLibrarians Thank you and best wishes to your ds.

My 13 year old had a sore arm- no other symptoms at all

Rupertpenrysmistress · 10/10/2021 21:23

This is a really helpful post, my 2 are having this tomorrow and I am a bit worried about aide effects. Very reassuring. My DC are not at all worried. Interesting, I did not worry about side effects of any other vaccine they have had.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 10/10/2021 21:29

Dd 13 had no side effects, not even a sore arm.
