False positive PCR after recent Covid?

DS had Covid a month ago, when he was abroad. Self-isolated as per that country's rules etc.

Had to do a day 2 test on returning home. Got the result last night - positive. Told to self isolate again

But I understand there is a high risk of false positives if you re-test within 90 days of having Covid. What is he supposed to do?

This is what government website says:

"Anyone who has previously received a positive COVID-19 PCR test result should not be re-tested within 90 days of that test, unless they develop any new symptoms of COVID-19."

But he had to have a test because of the stupid travel rules. And now the whole household is likely to be affected. He is being penalised for following the stupid rules.

It's a pain but that's the risk you take when travelling abroad at the moment unfortunately.

He was working abroad, not on holiday.

I've seen the news there was a recent reinfection after only 22 days.
It was only found out that was definite reinfection due to proper analysis. It sounded like it was rare, but not impossible?

Working or otherwise, he now needs to isolate. It's the price of trip.

Why does it affect the household? No one else has to isolate unless not jabbed.

Unfortunately that's the price you pay for travel leisure or work Sad

I had forgotten that Haribo, thanks for reminding me.

So only DS is affected. Not as bad as I thought.

Everyone has been double-jabbed, including DS.
