Am I eligible?

It's 6 months since I had my second jab.
I worked in social care which is why I got my jab 'early'. I'm 40.
The booking system tells me that I'm now eligible to have a booster and tells me I must take proof of my job to my appointment.
I no longer work in social care.
So it will be 6month since my jab but I'll not be able to have the vaccine?

I think I'm living on a different planet sometimes.. are people really moaning about not having a third vaccine already? Have you had covid?

HSHorror · 10/10/2021 20:46

I do get what you mean op but you arent eligible and you know that but booked it anyway.

I do think there will be many groups stuck like this. Some of those who pretended to be carers. t
Then there were asthmatics sho were jab bed but not in the oral steroids/ever hospitalised. This as apparently changed to hospitalised in 2(?) Years so all those will be stuck maybe not even getting a third.
And some areas were vaccinating down to 18yo really early.
Noone is at higher risk of catching it now as it's everywhere (though 6% of under 19s so any parents etc)
There will also be overweight people who have lost weight and now arent group 6

I wonder why the booster clinics are quiet and there are leftover doses? Have people just moved on from covid and don't see it as a risk anymore?

I have had covid so hoping I may have some natural immunity too

TreaslakeandBack · 11/10/2021 13:07

Leftover doses is because once a vial is open you have to draw up all the doses in that vial. Unless all the patients that day attend in multiples of 6, there are always a few spare.

Ok thanks, that makes sense

Cantstopthewaves · 11/10/2021 20:08

Well, I went to my appointment.
Explained to the nurse who was overseeing the jabs my predicament.
She checked on the computer, said it flagged me as eligible so therefore she was happy for me to have it.
The process wasn't very private and whilst waiting 15minutes after my jab I noticed no one was asked for proof of where they worked. 6months since last jab and that was all really required.

Cantstopthewaves · 11/10/2021 20:09

Yes, name changeGrin

ArianaG · 11/10/2021 21:50

Ok thanks for reporting back, glad you got the vaccine, I think I will do the same
