Covid- phlegmy cough?

Tiredout123 · 09/10/2021 11:41

Have developed a cough but I'm definitely bringing up some phlegm. Sorry for tmi.
Have booked a pcr test anyway but wanted to know if it's mainly just a dry cough that people get, or if this is possibly Covid?

Thanks

When I had Covid (post jabs) it started with a tickly cough that was a bit chesty with occasional green phlegm.

My DH became unwell yesterday & has a chesty cough & a cold. He said he’s been coughing stuff up. Has had a pcr test so we will see..

SmileySandwich · 09/10/2021 15:55

Could be covid. Could not be. That's the problem.

RoseAndGeranium · 09/10/2021 16:17

Covid gave me the most phlegmy cough of my entire life (and I’ve had bacterial bronchitis more times than I can remember). I had to go to the bathroom and cough to clear my lungs at least hourly even throughout the night just to keep my O2 sats in range. To be fair, though, that was COVID Original, not Delta.
There are a lot of other bugs going round that I think are more likely to cause a productive cough but you can’t rule COVID out.

Thanks all. Will update on here. Guess it's pretty rife now, so will probably be the norm to have covid soon, rather than the exception

Covid is more commonly a dry cough, but can be either.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 09/10/2021 21:01

Theres a horrible phlegmy cough going round at work. They also complain of a stuffy head and sore throat.
So far all the LFT's and PCR's we've done have come back negative.
I'm just waiting to catch it. I seem to catch everything that comes by even though we have masks and use loads of hand sanitiser and hand washing all day.

mrssunshinexxx · 09/10/2021 21:06

Yep mine was like this when I had covid

Romanticrights · 09/10/2021 22:30

Hi, I've got this at the moment! Doctor via 111 advised if coughing anything up, it's likely an infection (caused by COVID) and needs antibiotics. Not sure they've helped with mine, but might be worth a ring!
