Got my positive test back today, have had symptoms since yesterday. They're fairly mild at the moment. I feel a bit crappy, sore throat/cough/runny nose etc, but nothing awful. Just wondering what to expect, I suppose.

Can anyone share their experiences, please? I know that some people still get really sick despite having been vaccinated whereas others are barely sick at all.

I'm double vaccinated with AZ, had my second shot back in June. I'm in good health generally, and don't really have any underlying conditions that I'm aware of, but I am quite overweight.

What have other people's experiences been? Is there anything I can do at this stage to reduce the likelihood of getting seriously ill?

I feel awful again too! Freezing cold my cough is horrific! Trying really hard not to cough for a couple of hours - to give my chest wall a rest!

TeamRick · 12/10/2021 18:28

Spoke to the Gp today, I have steroids and some antibiotics! ☹️

How is everyone else getting on?

FreshFreesias · 12/10/2021 19:42

TBH, seeing how ill so many people are after being jabbed makes me so relieved I haven’t succumbed.
My cousin (57), my delivery man Terry (56), my neighbour (53) all died from heart attacks in the last month.
My dentist (57) recently admitted to hospital with blood clots, thankfully OK for now.
Be cautious and don’t take your health for granted.

AlexaShutUp · 12/10/2021 20:57

So sorry to hear that you're feeling worse @TeamRick but glad that your GP has been helpful.

I am much better overall. Fever and achiness has gone and cough could be a lot worse. I have no sense of smell and my sense of taste comes and goes a bit. The worst thing is the fatigue. Some of the time I feel OK but then suddenly I just feel completely wiped out, like I've never felt before. It's actually terrifying, I feel like I've been hit by a ten ton truck!

I was double jabbed June, I think, and had Covid late July.

For me it wasn’t too bad at all- very tired for 2 days and with a strange thick feeling in my sinuses. Slight fever but no cough. Then a fast recovery.

TiddleTaddleTat · 13/10/2021 17:43

My husband and DC all have Covid (positive pcrs and LFTs on Sunday) and I started with a cough yesterday . They are feeling mostly fine now .
I'm getting the tight chest feeling and cheeriness, feeling warm, etc, that I remember from the first infection I had back in Mar 2020.
Second AZ dose was 4 months ago, so really hoping I don't have the 7-10 days of awful bedbound illness followed by long covid this time. I really hate this virus.

TiddleTaddleTat · 13/10/2021 17:44

Chestiness, not cheeriness!!

oscarcat99 · 13/10/2021 17:46

DH had it end of August, fully vaxxed at the start of July. His main symptoms were fatigue and headache - it was over a week till he could go without a nap in the day. 6 weeks on he's mostly recovered but still gets tired in the evenings.

AlexaShutUp · 13/10/2021 17:52

I wish cheeriness was a symptoms @TiddleTaddleTat!Grin

How are you doing today @TeamRick. Better, I hope?

TeamRick · 13/10/2021 18:09

Yes, feeling slightly better today thank goodness! And thanks for asking.
Agree re the cheerfulness - that would be cool.

I have at least one sleep per day, sometimes for hours, very disconcerting for someone who normally doesn't sleep that well.

TiddleTaddleTat · 13/10/2021 19:28

My pcr was negative ... but I have symptoms (cough) , everyone in my family has confirmed Covid , all my LFTs are negative. What's going on?

Couchpotato3 · 13/10/2021 19:35

I've had a few friends and family who are recent contacts with typical Covid symptoms and negative PCRs - there seem to be quite a few cases about.
I'm on day 10, still feel absolutely wiped out, coughing fits a few times a day, trying very hard to stay awake until a proper bedtime this evening so that I can have a good night's sleep (I keep napping for hours and then waking up in the middle of the night). So fed up with this now.

TiddleTaddleTat · 14/10/2021 16:48

Just to update I've now had a positive lateral flow so have done another pcr. No doubt in my mind that I've been positive for days since symptoms started on Tuesday but several LFTs and pcrs later I only got a positive today.

Heronatemygoldfish · 14/10/2021 17:05

I had the faintest of lines on a LFT this morning so waiting for PCR results. Positive contact last weekend. Had booster last week too so triple jabbed! Sure I have it, perfect, just in time for half term...

Heronatemygoldfish · 15/10/2021 22:28

...but I don't. I was sure I was going to be on here saying how I was feeling over the next week or so. No idea why LFT had faint line (I could see it, DH couldn't) but PCR came back negative so have dodged it this time. Best of wishes to all you who definitely do.

TeamRick · 16/10/2021 12:52

God this drags on doesn't it! I have had a couple of days feeling better then today feel rough again!

I'm fed up now! ☹️

Couchpotato3 · 24/10/2021 12:59

Well into week 3 now. Progress is glacial.
Looking back, I think I had a long incubation period. I was coming home from work, lying down on the sofa and falling asleep for 4-5 hours, which I never normally do.
Smell/taste have returned to a degree (not back to normal). I started to have a bit more energy, but if I go out and do anything, I am absolutely wiped out again for the next few days.
'Tis grim!!

somewhereoverthechipshop · 25/10/2021 03:53

I have it (according to lateral flow..am awaiting pcr results) after being double vaxxed last June. Feel terrible. Symptoms started the night before last. Horrible horrible pain in sinuses, giving me the most awful headaches. Constant runny nose and pain in face! Very tired. Feel so so guilty as I’m the only one in the family that seems to have it and I’m isolating..all my kid’s fun activities that I planned for half term have to be cancelled as my husband is working (from home at least). Particularly sad for my little 5 year old as he will now spend the whole week practically watching tv while my husband works. I work 5 days a week during term time and was really looking forward to spending time with him this half term weekSad. I’m staying in my bed most of the time as don’t want anyone to get it. Very fed up.

stripeymonster · 25/10/2021 05:54

Tested positive on lateral flow for the first time today though felt ill 36 hours ago.
Feeling dreadful, awful right lower back pain, coughing is so painful and my pelvic floor is useless. Most frustrating is insomnia all I want to do is sleep but can't.
Cancelled our half term holiday - kids are really disappointed. Especially since we can't do anything.
My DH tested positive 4 days ago but seems to just have a heavy cold. Thought he might help over half term but he's adamant he is going to continue working from home. Meanwhile I'm struggling to summon the energy to walk from the bedroom to the bathroom. He also works from home in our bedroom so I'm stuck in the box room for now, which is starting to feel a cupboard.
DD 12 is on day 7 and seems fine she has kept in her room but was asymptomatic so I think we caught it from her before we knew she was positive.
Concerned about how bad this is going to get. Started a new job recently they will not be impressed if I can't go back after the tens days are up.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 25/10/2021 07:25

What are people doing about work if they go into a workplace? My symptoms started on 12 October, isolation ended a couple of days ago. I'm still coughing and breathless, and sleep for an hour during the day and a solid 11 hours at night.

I've persuaded work I will WFH this week (hence I'm awake now, I'd normally still be asleep!) but they weren't keen and I think will expect me in work next week (although I have a few days holiday booked so it wouldn't be a full week). I have a long commute, starting with a long walk, but I can't make toast without getting breathless! I'm wondering if I should get some sort of medical opinion - my GP is mostly doing eConsults still, and I'm not sure what they would do?
