Any way of getting 2nd jab for 14yo?

My dd is 14 and had her covid jab on 1 Oct. We'd like to travel to a country (to see extended family) where anyone over 12 who isn't double vaccinated has to quarantine for 14 days. Is there ANY way we can get her a second vaccine?

Not in the UK, no.

No.

Thanks, that's what I thought. This country has just announced the people who are not fully vaccinated won't even be able to get on planes or other transport, so I think we will have to wait even longer to see her grandparents. Sad

No, not at the moment. Who knows after they’ve all had their first vaccines, they could change their minds and give a second.

Can you get her jabbed in the country where your family lives? I know it doesn’t help with the quarantine this time but at least travel will be easier in the future.

If it's a condition of travel, like any other mandatory vaccination I wouldn't just assume no. Talk to your GP, they are better suited to answer the question.

@SD1978 I had assumed that the guidelines relating to only ECV teens (or housemates) would apply but you are right, I will at least ask the GP.

In the UK Covid vaccinations are not yet available outside the NHS system, and that system currently days no second jabs for 12-17yos. There's no point wasting the gp's time.

The GP very kindly took the issue to a PCN meeting AND a CGC meeting and said they can't help and there is nowhere private they can send us. So, in short, not possible. I was very touched that they took it seriously - the patchwork of international systems around travel is only going to become more of an issue.
