Stomach issues post covid

I had covid about a month ago, felt terrible for 10 days and still really tired.
Had nausea and diarrhoea when I had covid and it took a few weeks to get my appetite back.
The last week I’ve had a crampy stomach, lots of trapped wind and now diarrhoea again…..I’ve read that you can suffer gastro symptoms after covid. Wonder if I should be taking a probiotic or something?
Thanks and sorry for the tmi!

Yes I have had stomach issues. If I eat or drink anything acidic I get really bad tummy pains... Not really sure what to do apart from avoid.....

Winealot · 06/10/2021 15:46

Thanks for responding. I have also had a bit of an acid stomach alongside everything else!
I spoke to the pharmacist today, all he recommended was eating lots of fruit and veg…..the last thing I feel like!
Can I ask how long ago you had covid? Thanks

I tested positive two weeks ago and didn't have many symptoms, I felt mostly fine. But about a week later I started feeling really nauseous and lost my appetite a bit. It usually hits me in the afternoon. Not sure if it's related as I can't find many others with similar experience but it does seem like it could be. I also feel exhausted!

I've been burping loads since having covid. Very embarrassing!! Hoping it will right itself eventually!

Buy digestive enzymes plus acidophilus.

Piggywaspushed · 06/10/2021 18:26

Yes, I had this. Vomiting so bad was admitted. Took about a month before the nausea settled.

Piggywaspushed · 06/10/2021 18:27

I was prescribed Odansetron (sp?) OP.

I came out of isolation 6 weeks ago. I'm now eating lots of fruit and vegetables, cooking lots of healthy meals. Also i am starting goats kefir tomorrow, trying to build up my microbiome, so blue cheese, sourdough bread, pickled cornicions, greek yogurt, fruit etc etc etc Hoping I will see a difference in a few days. I must admit I was eating badly during Covid and after but I'm kicking myself into action now. How long ago did you have it?
Livvygator · 06/10/2021 21:35

@Guacamole001

Buy digestive enzymes plus acidophilus.
take this every day and hasn't made any difference :(
Winealot · 06/10/2021 22:05

@Livvygator

Out of isolation on 17th September, so early days really. I probably do need to start eating better again, I hardly ate for a week or so when I felt really bad and could only stomach white toast, crisps etc.
I still don’t fancy a lot of things I normally eat.
And when you’ve got a bubbling upset stomach, the last thing you want is fruit and veg in abundance! Thank you for the advice

Livvygator is the brand Solgar for digestive enzymes as they are a good brand. For acidophilus take twice daily. I havent had covid but after antibiotics my stomach played up a few months ago. For acidophilus I use Holland n Barrett. The tasty strawberry ones.

Just wanted to ask if people have found something that helped/if symptoms resolved themselves as I’m having similar issues a couple of weeks post covid and youngest child is also complaining of a sore tummy

piglets29 · 31/01/2022 13:12

Me too - I put up with it for about a month and then got some antacids prescribed by gp. They wanted a stool sample before I started them. They have helped in that the discomfort isn't there every day. But I still can't tolerate red wine etc.... I'm also on probiotic drink each day. Hope you feel better soon. I've been interested to find out if others had this.

I also had nausea and vomiting. I just read about the results of this trial yesterday phyto-v.com/ Basically a certain combination of supplements - probiotics plus phytochemicals (plant extracts) can really help covid recovery. You can now buy the supplements used in the trial
