Just want to scream - If I had the energy

I hate this

I had Covid a few weeks ago and luckily it wasn’t too bad I was just really exhausted and achey but the tiredness just hasn’t gone away. I can’t get through a full day without having to rest half way through. I get wicked brain fog and feel like I just can’t function. I went to my GP for help and ended up being sent to hospital because my heart rate was high and the only advice she gave me for the fatigue was to self certify for a week.

6 hours later, an ecg, an X-ray, blood tests and being poked and prodded by multiple nurses and drs they ruled out anything sinister and sent me on my way with the ruling it was just Covid side effects.

Now I have the dreaded cold that’s going round too. Im just so freaking fed up and tired. Surely this must get better soon? Right now I'm just lying I'm the dark wide awake despite feeling shattered and I’m just so bleugh

You will get through it. My friend has had that awful bug thats going about and has been quite ill, she did recover, it just takes time. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm in week 6 of recovery. Also just come down with a cold.

The tiredness and brain fog hits me too. Some days I have good days, other days I don't have the energy to brush my hair and end up spending the day on the sofa sleeping it off.

I went back to work last week on a phased return, wfh, and found that it's taking me longer to do things because anything I would usually do on autopilot I'm now having to stop and think about. Even when having a conversation, sometimes I have to stop and literally search my brain for the word I want to use.

It's rubbish. But it will get better.

If you need to rest halfway through the day, so be it. It's better that, than resisting and wiping yourself out.

I was having a pattern of 2 good days followed by a bad, then one week I felt so normal I did the school run twice a day. Still felt normal so on the Thursday I decided to do the weekly shop. Walked around Asda for an hour. By the end I was limping (Covid has affected my legs quite badly) and it wiped me out for 2 days.

I feel daft saying this but I ended up in hospital for 4 days. I had a room to myself and I was so grateful for the bed and the silence. I stayed away from Tv and my phone (apart from checking in with DH). It allowed my brain to switch off and my body to rest.

Allow yourself to rest as much as possible, even when you don't feel tired, and try and find ways to help your brain switch off.

It will get better.

Sorry to hear ladies and I hope you are both back to normal as soon as possible. I am the same :( I'm so fed up. its been 6 weeks since I finished isolation and I'm exhausted. I only work 4 hours a day and I'm finding it so hard to do it daily and all the home life jobs at home too. Now I have caught this monster cold have been in bed all week and don't feel any better.... I just want to be back to normal. Anyone here felt a whole lot better after 8/1-/12 weeks?

Day 8 for me..The low energy and dizzy spells are the worst..you get one good day and then go backwards. I'm double jabbed and really didn't expect to feel like this if I got it ..makes me question it if I'm honest. Hope you all feel better soon

I’m CEV so I dread to think how poorly I could have been without the jab! Has anyone found some good medication for this cold? I’ve been taking sinus medication but it doesn’t seem to make that much difference

How is it possible to be so tired and not be able to sleep at night?! Had a great day, good night rest last night - had a rest but didn’t need a nap. Yet tonight I just cannot drop off

I haven't had covid, but I have had that feeling before and it's horrible. I hope you manage to drop off soon.

My DH and I both had this for around 4 weeks before getting better. It takes time and a lot of rest but it does go eventually. I found hot drinks like hot elderflower or hot lemon helped and I took cold and flu tablets, benillyn cough medicine, anti-histamines for my allergy symptoms though I have those all time and separate and Imodium for gastric symptoms.

Hope you all start to feel better soon. I was shocked how long it lasted being double vaccinated but it does go eventually at at 4 weeks I can taste, smell, have finally stopped gastric symptoms and dizziness, cold is pretty much over, cough is much better, mouth is very buzzy and tired but can't sleep still though that may well be perimenopause.

Oh dear that is rough. Had you had any vaccinations. I have had vaccinations but my son has Covid at the moment and I am still desperately trying not to catch it from him.

I really can’t wait for this all to be over, I’ve been dosing up on medication but it’s starting to make my stomach hurt so I’m worried I’m doing a damage with so much going in

So hang on in there!
I think there’s a lot of us out there who are taking longer to recover than the week or two that seems to be expected

GP sounds like a very good plan, I’m glad you’re able to get rest. Let us know what they say x

It’s definitely nice to know we’re not alone in this! I’m coming out the other side of the cold now, still got the lingering cough though and I’ve managed to hurt my stomach muscles which is delightful 🙃 still working half days which is much better than full days at the moment and sleeping most the afternoon
