Is it possible to get COVID twice in short time? Throat like razors

I had COVID a few weeks ago, maybe now 3 weeks or more. COVID it’s self was up and down somedays worse than others. Cough was dry but able to supress. Now since last week I developed a chesty cough (the dry cough from COVID never really left) so turned worse. Now coughing green phlegm. And also developed a throat like razors, it hurts to swallow and throat is very red
Adams apple area also sore!

I just wondered if its possible to catch covid another strain in short space because my immune is bad or if it’s likely something else?

I can’t test on PCR and lateral flow is negative but was negative even prior to covid and during!

There is a very similar non covid lurgie doing the rounds here

Neonplant · 05/10/2021 19:49

Yeah I agree with pp. My whole family seem to have the non covid lurgee and my throat is v sore! Plus sneezing. I'll do a home test tomorrow but I think it's a cold not covid.

Teflondreams · 05/10/2021 19:52

That doesn’t sound like covid but the nasty cold bug that is doing the rounds.

Ilikewinter · 05/10/2021 19:55

Yep I can agree with the nasty throat/ cold. I work in a pharmacy and we have practically sold out of everything cold related. I know people are feeling truly awful with it.

I am 3 weeks post covid positive pcr but I had a chest infection too (diagnosed at hosp due to breathing difficulties).

lana29 · 05/10/2021 20:25

Oh damn, would you say there is anything OTC that could treat? I’ve found Tyrozets in my cupboard but seen they’ve been discontinued!

Unsure what part your in but I’m so keen to avoid antibiotics is there an antibiotic out there that shouldn’t cause thrush?

I have had the worst cold with the sorest throat twice in four weeks!! Lfts all negative.

OliveTree75 · 05/10/2021 20:44

I've just had the non covid virus doing the rounds and was way worse than actual covid for me.

Whatwentwronghere · 05/10/2021 20:56

How come you can't get a pcr? It could be a secondary infection after being run down after covid. You should speak to a doctor to make sure you don't need antibiotics

YouPrettyThings · 05/10/2021 20:58

I had covid last week and my nose, throat & chest were like razors - then I went through all the other symptoms. I've woken up this morning with a sore throat - my neck is even sore to touch and with swollen glands. I think it's just a nasty cold bug doing the rounds but my immune system is clearly shot.

Hope you feel better soon!

lana29 · 05/10/2021 21:02

I was told by track and trace if I wanted to recheck that I could not as a PCR could show positive for 90 days :(

It is awful, if you get any relief from the throat issue let me know! It’s :((

OP posts:
lana29 · 05/10/2021 21:02

Did you take anything to clear it?

OP posts:
lana29 · 05/10/2021 21:03

Damn did you expefience any of the above? Did it clear?

OP posts:
Bobholll · 05/10/2021 21:17

If you are chesty & coughing green phelm, I’d get yourself double checked for a chest infection. Covid can cause secondary infection! Or it could be another virus causing an infection!

Ki0612 · 05/10/2021 21:18

I feel horrific it's not covid. Its worst cold ever.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 05/10/2021 21:20

Yes get checked out for a secondary infection. Can you get diflam spray for your throat? Hope you feel better soon op

lana29 · 05/10/2021 21:25

What symptoms do you have? :(

Couple of things to try. First suck on ice cubes, sounds daft but the as they melt they cool and moisten the sore area. The other is to get soluble ibuprofen, dissolve it and gargle it so it gets absorbed directly into the sore bit inside your throat.
Hope you feel better soon, I suspect lots of us have immune systems that haven’t been challenged in the normal way with lockdowns and mask wearing. There are bound to be lots of non covid bugs making people iller than normal.
