PCR test question

user7464733 · 04/10/2021 20:23

I've been off work now for 2 days with suspected covid high temp, cough and also vomiting. I have been doing LFT tests and they have been negative.
Work want me to do a PCR test to confirm for sickness reasons but I feel to ill to travel and would have to use public transport.
Anyone know if work can force me to take a test?

You can order one to be delivered to your house then you just post it back 👍🏻

Bunn5 · 04/10/2021 20:26

You can order a PCR test to be delivered to your home if you’re not well enough or able to get to a test centre.

You don’t strictly have to have a test but if it’s suspected Covid, you could just isolate for 10 days.

Get a postal one. You can even ask for someone to pick it up if you're too ill to go to the post box.

EileenGC · 05/10/2021 10:44

Get a postal test.

Why have you been testing with LFTs? They’re useless when you have symptoms.

Symptoms = PCR. We’re almost 2 years into this, and people are still testing wrong.

We have to take a PCR test as its logged differently when it's Covid. Otherwise you'd be self certifying and will only get 5 days I think it is. I currently have Covid and I was told I needed a PCR test to confirm it so work and school knew for definite. Our lateral flows were inconsistent. My DS was constantly positive on 4 LFT and I have been constantly negative on the same amount. We both were confirmed positive by PCR.

Order it to your home, however you do need to post it in a priority mail box I understand so you will be required to leave the house

Where do you order them from?

Needanewadventure2021 · 05/10/2021 11:16

And I wouldn't trust lateral flow tests anymore. I was symptomless and was showing negative on every one. At time of test I was symptomless. The only reason I PCR'd was my son was testing positive. I then received a positive PCR so I do not trust LFT at all

Postal Covid test is your friend here. Order it today, get it tomorrow, do the test and send it straight back.

You have symptoms so you are expected to get a PCR. Your work is absolutely right to suggest this.

@Fordian

Where do you order them from?
From the same place you book an appointment for a walk-in/drive-in PCR test:

Work can't force you but you could instead isolate for 10 days. Everyone I know who has recently had covid were all testing negative on LFT.

There is no way our employer would let anyone into the office if they've had covid symptoms and haven't PCR tested or isolated.
