Covid and weightloss

Hi, I’ve had covid symptoms since last Monday and a positive PCR on Wednesday and since then I’ve lost four pounds.
That might not sound much but I was already underweight to begin with - bmi at 18.4 to start with - and I’m not entirely sure why I’ve lost it.
Apart from loss of smell, which is what alerted me, I’m totally asymptomatic and obviously inactive because I’m staying in the house all the time.
Is this just a thing? I feel and look quite a bit thinner, 4lbs shows fast.

I’m no medical expert but perhaps if your body is fighting an infection that uses up more energy?

Have a big sandwich with Mayo and crisps

Maybe, that was the only thing I could think.
Bmi now 17.8 which is low for someone of 40 years old I think. I’ll see how it goes. I don’t know if I keep losing if I should contact GP. Not that there’s anything they can do I suppose.

I lost 12lb in 2 weeks when I had covid. Simply couldn't eat, I went about two weeks of eating barely a mouthful each day. Tried plain rice and milky drinks.
Medically it wasn't an issue because I was able to drink.
I regained the weight by around 6 weeks.
