What's the longest it's taken to get your PCR results back?

I'm on day 5. Cough and temp have gone and I'm pretty sure I've just got a nasty cold. Past PCRs have come back in about 24 hours. Are they taking longer in general? Am I just being impatient?

I would assume it has gone missing after that long!

I've done several tests aswell as my kids and husband and every single one took no longer than 24 hours. Mostly less.

Cluelessgardener · 01/10/2021 22:29

Both myself and a friend are waiting on results for our children and she's been waiting 48 hours, were 30 hours. It's odd as everyone told me how quickly they come back so I'm wondering if there's an issue

Sarah2384 · 01/10/2021 22:31

I'm still waiting for the one I took about a year ago this week .... never heard a peep!

genome · 01/10/2021 22:32

None of ours has taken more than 24 hours. They advised up to 48 hours at the testing centre recently. I think its probably got lost somewhere.

Bellabelloo · 01/10/2021 23:42

Ok. Thanks. I'll go and do another tomorrow.

We were told we can call to chase them after 72 hours. DH will be doing that this morning as his that he took Wednesday morning isn't back yet (I took one at the same test centre on Thurs which was back the same day 🤔)

starpatch · 02/10/2021 06:45

Took DS to walk in PCRs twice. First one never came back. Second one took 10 days!

Mindymomo · 02/10/2021 08:18

Chase after 72 hours by ringing 119. My son did a home test but didn’t register barcode, as this had changed from the last one he did, as soon as he registered it, the negative result came back straight away.

ReginaSpaghetti99 · 02/10/2021 08:57

Currently at 4 days. Still waiting.

kitz90 · 02/10/2021 09:03

Sent one off on Thursday for DD. Expected it back yesterday. Still waiting.

The first couple I had to do for my DC came back the next day. I am wondering if the labs are busier in certain parts of the country.

TheatricalGiraffe · 02/10/2021 09:28

I posted mine Thursday evening at around 5pm.. Results back by 8:30 this morning...so 24 hours ish?

MegaClutterSlut · 02/10/2021 09:41

Dd had one Monday, results came back Tuesday. Dh had one Thursday and results came through early hours of this morning

Peachi82 · 02/10/2021 15:21

8 days...

And I never received my day 2 result after travelling. Pure money making scheme.

hamilfanz · 02/10/2021 17:23

It took me three days to realise I hadn't registered the tests properly (postal). Once I did the results followed quickly.

helgarr28 · 02/10/2021 20:17

Hi fellow members of the covid club. It really hits you doesn't it. I did a postal PCR on Thursday and not back yet. I've got work getting twitchy as in their eyes I am only off because of a postive lft ( 3 actually) so my husband drove me to a drive in centre today. Hope the results come in from then.
When do you count your quarantine date from - when you started minor symptoms or when you had your first pos lft with symptoms?
thanks

karenm51 · 02/10/2021 21:30

I posted one back on weds lunchtime, tracking showed it was delivered on Thursday morning and then received the result at 3pm today. That’s the longest we’ve had to wait so far

Chilver · 02/10/2021 21:37

Posted ours.on Thursday morning (but could have only been picked up at 5pm?). Just got 2 of the results back this evening only, both negative, but the 3rd (who had the only positive lft) hasn't come back yet!

myadhdusername · 02/10/2021 21:39

Friday to Wednesday

myadhdusername · 02/10/2021 21:39

Not postal!

Heartofglass12345 · 02/10/2021 21:43

If it's been longer than 72 hours phone 119 and see if they can chase it up for you.
I've done 2 on my son and they were back within 24 hours but case numbers are very high at the moment so that might be why it's taking so long.
@helgarr28 it goes either from your first test or when one of the main 3 symptoms first started. Any other symptoms and it would start from your first positive LFD test.

Jerble · 02/10/2021 21:58

Last week, I posted mine on Saturday afternoon and got result on Wednesday morning. That’s the longest I’ve ever had to wait.

helgarr28 · 02/10/2021 22:12

Finally in and its positive

Heartofglass12345 · 02/10/2021 22:54

@helgarr28 I hope you're not feeling too bad with it. I've managed to avoid catching it so far!

DontGiveAFlyingFig · 03/10/2021 07:54

First one never came back that was a drive through centre, we are on number 2 but this time we've ordered a postal one which hopefully will come tomorrow.

Couldhavebeenme3 · 03/10/2021 08:24

Our household has done 8 or 9 pcrs over the last 18m (Zoé app, close contacts, full set of symptoms, no 'just checking'), all at the drive-through place 8m from home. Fortunately all negative, and all results back within 24h.
