Do I cancel my hospital appointment at 9am?

Dd had a bad cough last week - she has asthma - she did a pcr and it was negative. A few days later she saw out of hours gp and tonsillitis was diagnosed

I have an MRI booked at 9am and I am awake with a sore throat, no cough, no temperature and no loss of taste or smell - I don't have my tonsils

So do I cancel and try get PCR without the 3 symptoms? If my appt was lunchtime I'd ring and ask but....

I would go. Don't cancel.

rattlemehearties · 01/10/2021 06:46

You don't have coronavirus symptoms and you've not had close contact with a positive case... No need to cancel

Cantchooseaname · 01/10/2021 06:48

Do a lateral flow to reassure yourself? Appropriate if you do not have symptoms.

KatyMac · 01/10/2021 06:49

Ok- I get paranoid about doing the right thing!

We have been guilty into second guessing everything Confused

Now it's been a while since I had a throat this painful....saltwater?

No, I wouldn’t cancel.

Izzy24 · 01/10/2021 07:05

Lateral flow. Hopefully negative so you can go.

talkalarm · 01/10/2021 07:05

I'm really overly cautious but I would go. In a hospital all the rules are still in place anyway, you'll all be wearing masks and distancing as much as possible

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 01/10/2021 07:23

I’d go if a lateral flow came back negative

starfish4 · 01/10/2021 07:27

I'd do a LFT. You and hospital staff should all be wearing masks so that's further protection.

RedSnail · 01/10/2021 07:28

I’d do a lateral flow and go if negative.

Panda8383 · 01/10/2021 07:48

I didn’t have any symptoms and didn’t think I’d been in contact with anyone, I had achey muscles but did a LFT which was positive and then PCR which was also positive, I would defo do a LFT

BoomChicka · 01/10/2021 07:49

Don't cancel, you don't know how long you'll wait for another appointment!!

NailsNeedDoing · 01/10/2021 07:51

Don’t cancel, if you’ve been booked for an MRI it’s because you need it.

Whatshouldicallme · 01/10/2021 09:50

I would ring and ask them for guidance. I'm sure they have a policy around this specific situation.

KatyMac · 01/10/2021 10:27

No covid symptoms and no reason to test according to the hospital

Particularly as DD has been diagnosed with tonsillitis recently

Tha ks everyobe
