Did you get a confirmation email or text when registering a postal PCR test?

Family member did PCR test yesterday and sent it off. Put in the various codes on packet as per the instructions on the NHS website for PCR tests but never got confirmation of registering PCR test and have had no result yet. Is that normal (to not get a confirmation of registering email)?

I get a registration email yes
I do mine for work....I'm not sure if that makes a difference
