There’s no recommendation to wait. I’d do it now.

worriedatthemoment · 30/09/2021 08:34

He has just wokr up as late college start with a slight sore throat
Negative lvt so far ,no classic symptom , thinking i should test him today and keep home, may call college for there advice .
He does sometimes have sore throats first thing , but disappear within a couple hrs ( sleeps with mouth open )

Advice is to test straight away I think.

junebirthdaygirl · 30/09/2021 09:07

Advice now is test if there are any symptoms presuming he is vaccinated. So today is a good day.

Starlightstarbright1 · 30/09/2021 09:11

Just curious why are you testing?

My Ds is in constant contact with children positive with covid as it is going right through school. He is doing lft but all negative

Mindymomo · 30/09/2021 09:28

@Starlightstarbright1. Because getting a PCR test after being in contact with someone who has covid is recommended, at the moment. It’s not compulsory, so it’s down to individuals to decide if they want to get a PCR test done.

ColettesEarrings · 30/09/2021 09:29

Testing too early with pcr is pointless, but given that it's Thurs already and you've been doing daily LFTs, I'd test today with pcr, yes.

worriedatthemoment · 30/09/2021 09:36

@Starlightstarbright1 as i understand that is the advice ? Also he has come down with a sore throat now so i know its not one of the three but the person who is positive has a sore throat , fever came a little later.
So both factors it seems sensible
Although my ds does suffer with sore throats with any cold or illness and sometimes they last a day and go as I think at night he breathes through his nose
Also his close contact was quite prolonged not just a child in his class , it was someone he sat next to and spent time with for 3 hrs or so

@junebirthdaygirl he has had one vaccinatiin as under 18 so only been eligible for the one

Our close contact letters say test on day 2 and day 6

pommedeterre · 30/09/2021 10:31

Oh that's interesting marie - we pcr'd the rest of us when DD's positive came through then on the request on the other kids school did another pcr 3 days later.

We only had a text from the friends mum about close contact no official letter/contact/guidance.

MrsWhites · 30/09/2021 11:40

I’ve also been surprised that advise is to PCR test straight away. Makes no sense to me as surely this doesn’t account for an incubation period.

DD tested positive on Tuesday, she developed a cough and had a faint positive on LFT before positive PCR. Rest of the household has been doing daily LFT’s.

worriedatthemoment · 01/10/2021 21:36

Pcr back and negative but has a cold
Thinking maybe should pcr again sat/ sun incase it was too early , although test was done on day of sorr throat
Also no contact test and trace just from
Person , they told her as long as she had told us that was ok ?

I came into contact with someone on the Sunday/Monday who tested positive on the Wednesday. I took daily lateral flow tests until the following Friday which would have been day 8 of me needing to isolate if I wasnt vaccinated and then went for a PCR as I'd have expected it to show positive if I had picked anything up. Negative test Smile
