It’s always written on threads here and in the media that under 18’s don’t have to self isolate if they live in a household where covid is present yet the government website says it’s 18yrs and 6 months.

Did anybody else know this or is it a little known fact?

I knew because DD was one of those directly affected, she turned 18 a few months ago and received her 2nd dose 3 weeks before she turned 18 and 6 months.

I believe the 6 months extra only applies to England though, definitely not Scotland. Not sure about Wales and NI

It is fairly well known, I think. It was originally set like that to allow them to get double vaccinated once they had reached 18, plus a little bit extra.

Now that vaccination age has been lowered, there isn't really a need for this extra time, but I expect it will be upheld.

I haven't got any children in that age range, but was fully aware of it.

Yes we knew this

I was aware of it, yes. As were DD's school who insisted she goes in despite both parents being +

119 however were not aware when I called them to clarify isolation rules a couple of weeks ago. They insisted that DD (13) should be isolating, and that I'd be breaking the law if I sent her to school.
