Anyone had heart palpitation weirdness or dizziness with covid?

Tested positive at the weekend after my daughter brought covid back from school. Am double jabbed and I'm guessing I'm on about day 6 ish of symptoms. I'm getting some really strange heart sensations and dizziness. Overnight my heart rate was going down to about 45-47 (resting). Today it's more normal, but it feels so odd. It's like I'm really overly aware of it and almost like palpitations. I'm also feeling really quite dizzy. My oxygen levels are totally fine. No cough or breathlessness to speak of. Has anyone experienced this? I'm finding it quite stressful!

Probably a good idea do check in with GP over phone.

SirVixofVixHall · 29/09/2021 14:25

My DH had palpitations. I think Covid can cause heart inflammation so I would call your GP.

RavingAnnie · 29/09/2021 14:26

Both my DH and I had fast heart rate and heart palpitations, plus loads of dizzy spells. Severe brain fog too plus I had some confusion.

MadamMoth · 29/09/2021 14:54

I'm on day 8 and dizziness / confusion/ brain fog has been one of my main symptoms. It was quite severe for about a day, I wasn't wholly sure anything I was saying was making sense. It was but I was too confused to realise.

Yes I found this. The cognitive symptoms were the worst bit.

Thanks everyone! I've given 111 a call and someone is going to ring me back. I'm thinking it's probably just another of covid's random symptoms. I definitely have the brain fog too!

I had dizziness, a weird light headed sensation and awful pins and needles in my hands, as well as the usual symptoms. It’s horrible, I hope you feel better soon.

Yes had exactly this and oxygen going to 93 94 for past week and half, on day 15 now. Pulse went to 48 yesterday. So dizzy and lots of nausea and gastric symptoms. Last half the day every day then better. Pulse normally says 55 but getting quite a few 50s.

Silkiescatz · 29/09/2021 15:15

I felt quite confused last week but this week that has gone at least. Gastric symptoms improve with no dairy at all and drinking lots of fluid and ensuring replace salts and minerals. Not found a cure for dizziness but driving me nuts now. Watering eyes anti histamines helped with. Have 2 blocked ears but no pain, from very heavy cold before. Also double jabbed.

naturemumma · 30/09/2021 08:46

Thanks everyone! 111 thought I should be checked out, but everything is fine :)

@Silkiescatzsilkie I'm beginning to wonder if it's like labyrinthitis. I could literally be on a boat this morning and one of my ears feels quite blocked. Perhaps it could be that with you? Everything I've read says it usually goes by itself after a while. Hope you feel better soon.

Dd had very mild/asymptomatic covid and one evening she had a dizzy spell and could see double. It passed after an hour and didn't come back but I would say based on the fact that her only other symptoms were losing sense of smell and coughing approx 4 times in a week it must be a reasonably common issue!

Hope you feel better soon.

Choconuttolata · 30/09/2021 11:52

Yes I had vertigo due to labyrinthitis and vestibular neuritis and also Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia (which can cause palpitations and dizziness) which I still have post-Covid. I also know several people who had cardiac issues such as myocarditis and pericarditis post-Covid which led to abnormal heart rhythms.

naturemumma · 30/09/2021 12:01

@Choconuttolata that’s really interesting. It’s a shame about the POTS, I hope it goes off for you.

I'm on day 11 and I generally have a very high resting heart rate of sometimes over 100, but of a night have been getting heart palpataions/aching the last few nights.

Silkieschickens · 30/09/2021 20:45

Thanks Nature Glad your checks were OK and thanks for reporting back. I am still same, so so dizzy for half the day and gastric symptoms, both ears blocked, pulse still low, oxygen improving a bit. Not sure what is causing it, originally thought oxygen as that goes lower lying down but says online you get that under 90 and mine gets to about 93. Dont think its heart related as hardly any chest pain and my heart was checked a year or so ago and fine. Could be the ears but wierd as its half the day, always after sleeping for about 5 hours feel like death. Hopefully we will be better soon. My DH is better now after 4 weeks so may just need time, he didnt have dizziness though or low pulse.

CatAlice · 30/09/2021 21:42

I had dizziness, confusion and palpitations (among other symptoms). I was in hospital a week for covid. They seemed more concerned about the low oxygen levels though oxygen deprivation can certainly cause cognitive issues. I have atrial tachycardia which is normally well controlled but often triggered by viruses.
It took about 3 weeks for the dizziness to subside.

So glad you posted this! My son had dizziness, heart pals tiredness, weakness, tingling in hand n feet, bit if headache, no cough or temp 3 negative laterals, then one very very very is it a kind positive, then a negative PCR. I've had bad headache all weak and mild fatigue etc but negative lateral.
Middle son cake home from school saying felt dizzy and not well did a lateral and a big fat positive. So I suspect myself has it but just not showing up on lateral and I suspect oldest son had it but body Fought it off fast.

So yes dizziness has been a major sypmton in our family.
